I enjoyed the pilot and I am definitely hooked for now. I did not expect the dome to make an appearance during the opening minutes but I guess they wanted to get the attention of the audience pretty quickly; especially for those who end up changing channels if it isn't exciting right from the get go.

Stephen King in the original first look video (linked in the opening post) stated that it's a 13 week event, which means it's a mini series with only one season. And though I haven't read the novel, it does seem the pacing has been sped up to make room for all major characters to be established in the pilot.

it happens within the first 5-10 pages of the novel. You learn about the characters as the story goes along.

There is a definite ending to the book, but I have read from many sources that the planned TV ending is totally different. We'll see.

Many didn't like the book ending but I liked it just fine.

Didn't see the first episode last night but will once it is available on Amazon Prime in another 4 days or so.

I just hope this isn't another show where it just leaves you hanging and you have to imagine what happened. Nothing is really explained. I hate that stuff. It's lazy writing and King has done it too.

King has let me down way too many times with his stupid stories.

But it was also going up against Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on NBC. Pretty impressive, for one night anyway. And I'm sure some hockey fans dvr'd it like me.

Or that the whole thing is what happens with people in the dome till the dome just suddenly disappears and they're lives are changed forever.....that kind of crap.

The first episode was really good! I hope they can maintain it for the entire run.

And yet that 8.16 million made it the second most watched tv show only after Under The Dome. That so few watch hockey is meaningless when you look at it in context that for one night the game took away viewers from the pilot episode.

I thought this was okay. I'll keep coming back for some more episodes. But some of the acting was REALLY uneven. Still, the promise of a one and done series is appealing.
