To the other unemployed people out there.... what the hell do you do to occupy your days?? I've been looking for a job since finishing grad school and I've come to the point where I have nothing left to do. I've read through all the books that were backlogged, played all the video games that I missed out on in the past 4 years, and I'm getting tired of watching my old movies.

I've been going to the gym every morning and again later at night, but what else is there to do that is free???

Free?? not much

Online poker man, start small, it passes time for cheap

Just curious. You can't find a single job? Retail, waiter, gas station, something? It's going to be hard finding a job if you don't establish yourself somewhere.

I've been applying all over town. To be honest I really don't want to do those jobs again...I waited tables and worked overnight at a 24 hour gym while I was finishing my undergraduate degree and hated it.

Gottcha. Guess you have it good then. :lol

you're at least the third person I know in florida that "can't find work".

i have a lazy ass cousin in florida that just fishes all day and soaks up my uncle's money.

seems like a move is in order if you have a masters degree and can't find work in florida.

Lol...No I just don't want to go back to that again unless I absolutely have to. Then I feel like I wasted my time and went to school for nothing.

Yeah its hard in Florida. I have a conference call on the 4th with someone from the Civilian Army Personnel that will hopefully land me a job....in Korea. I'd be more than willing to relocate if I had a job locked in.

~~On side not I did have a promising lead last month only to get denied in the interview because I didn't have experience in the related field. It was up in Jacksonville, and after driving 3 hours to get there and sitting through the interview they asked if I had any experience working with children...which I haven't. Everything went great, they spoke with the people I listed as referrals, which included the Dean from school, but I guess they didn't read through the part on my resume where I listed my internships and job history.
Needless to say I was pissed about driving back and forth for nothing.

dont stop looking and bug the ____ out of the places you really want to work.
Companies are flooded right now with applications for positions.
When they decide to pull the trigger, make sure one of those applicants who they remember due to your eagerness and persistence.

Thats the problem! 99% of this places is all Internet ____!!! you go there to make a good impression! "go fill out an application online" :monkey4:monkey4:monkey4:monkey4 what ever happened to face to face!! i miss those days!:monkey2

^^^ No doubt. I really want to work with the Veterans Affairs which is where I complete my final internship. Unfortunately they had to go through a budget cut and put a hold on new hires. My ambition is to work with the OIF and OEF Vets and also with the geriatric clinic that they have on the hospital campus.

:lecture :lecture Tell me about it. I literally stumped a girl when I went into a local agency with my resume and some general questions. She was really puzzled and told me that the HR wasn't at this location and that people have to go through the website and contact them through those means.

Do charity work in something related to the field you have your education in (if possible). They'll appreciate the help, you'll get an additional bump to your resume, and you'll be helping out people who need it.

Aside from that, you can always take up a new hobby that may lead to employment.

I've been doing this in my off time. I've been volunteering at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge and the local E.C.H.O. (community outreach program) I actually love doing this as I get to have all sorts of fun with the people I work with even though it sucks that I can't get paid to do it.
