Help Support Collector Freaks Forum:
So my brother, who got his Master's degree in healthcare admin last year, was just let go from his job. Apparently his position was "eliminated" at a relatively new physical rehab company. He was the marketing manager..... I just got word from my mother, so I'm not sure of the details..... Just sucks to hear more and more how crappy the economy still is

Just sucks to hear when a close relative is struggling with the economy......
Though I don't worry about things right now, I know I'm really going to be in a bind in the future, and retirement is going to be out of the question. I'll have to work till I drop dead. The days of working 30 years then drawing a nice pension are gone I'm afraid.

Then I'll be a millionaire, and I can get pixletwin a Lando, and I can get you a Lurtz, and I can get King Darkness cocaine and hookers, and I can get GrueSam a harem, and I can get the Darklord an electric shocker thing so that giving out infractions will be more fun than he ever dreamed, and I can get Sideshow new factory painters, and I can buy the rest of the world a Coke. While they figure out how to share one Coke between all those people, we can sit back and ignore them while the last chance for global peace turns into WWIII, but we won't care because I'll be rich and everyone else won't.

If you plan well now, you can retire well later (no matter how much you make). Don't bet on a pension or social security (haha) being there.

It's really hard to explain, but it's not that easy.
Also, I'm from Ohio, we basically don't get SS because when we retire, they take the SS out of our pensions. Only a few states still do this. Most get to draw pensions AND SS.
I also work for the schools system so I won't draw SS.
I tried to figure out what I will draw at 30 years on retirement using current rates. I'd get about $800. And no SS.
Sorry, can't retire.
In our system, unless you're a teacher, your retirement stinks.

I know what you mean. I didn't mean to plan to retire on a pension or SS or something ... I meant pay off debts, and gather up a big pile of cash, and then retire. Save 15% a year for retirement after your debts are paid off ... and retire in luxury (though luxury varies depending on how old you are when you start saving).

Well, it's official. I'm going back to school. This means I'm going to have to find a part-time job to support this addiction.....until I find something else and move on!
Soooo, anyone know any retail jobs in TDot? I'm not picky and I can rough it out. Well, so long as it pays so-so then I guess it's fine.

I've been on the boat that you're about to jump on for over a year now..... I work part time at a restaurant in the meantime. Usually restaurant jobs are the best because they can accommodate your school schedule.
I've also had to cut back on my collecting purchases
It just means that you have to be very selective with your purchases, as I really limit myself to about 1-2 pieces a year.jinxx

And I hear ya about collecting. I haven't gotten anything since last July....I got one thing on pre-order, and it's about 60 bucks.
I'm actually looking for a second job...but still haven't found anything yet.

Nah....I got one of those 3A Berties. I got the Deep Powder one.
I had them all Pre-Ordered....I had to budget myself and end up just getting just one.
