RD might though.

True. :lol

I often wonder what people on these boards actually look like. I tend to imagine people who look like me, but I'm sure there are some characters out there.

But seriously Wolfman is an official NEW Halloween tradition now...along with Trick or Treat!

For the record...I look nothing like any of those guys!:tap

Why are you guys argueing about character development? There was none. So why is this even being debated?

:huh

That's not exactly what we were discussing. Ever notice how most questions are statements in disguise?

And it's arguing.

The sad part is that the box office is falling very fast. The estimates for this weekend put it at only $4.1 million, and most predictions see it topping out between $65-70 million total, domestically. Given its budget, that doesn't bode well for the future of the franchise.

And even putting aside our differences of opinion, I really believe that the film could have been tweaked during the early stages in such a way that we both could have been well satisfied by the result. Plus, I also believe that going for the R rating was a mistake. They could have made a "hard PG-13" by trimming or re-shooting just a handful of shots, probably not more than about 30-45 seconds in total. I believe that if the filmmakers had done those two things this could have been sitting at $150 million right now.

But, I guess they wanted to distance themselves from Van Helsing as much as they could.

Universal's Classic formula
: Pathos+interesting character actors+ gothic settings + elaborate scores+ unique monster make ups (most by Jack pierce except for Millicent Patrick's Creature designs later made reality by creative teams)+ sympathy for the monsters (except Dracula who was just a total bastard)= SUCCESS.

UNIVERSAL JUST NEEDS TO ACTUALLY LEARN THIS.

Stepping off soapbox now............:peace:monkey3

It would have definitely opened up the audience base. Although yesterday I saw Wolfman figures right next to Freddy Krueger and Jason figures at Toys R Us...which was strange.

And risking coming off as obstinate I don't mind this not being a franchise, as the original also had no sequel in the proper sense, regardless of the new film's ending. I'm sure Universal does not share my opinion.

That is certainly true, although I wasn't just thinking of the Wolfman when I referred to the franchise. I am thinking of the future of the classic characters in general. After the abysmal failure of Van Helsing, adding this new disappointment can't be a good sign of things to come.

I only hope the Creature survives.

I'm sure we'll still get a Creature remake; Except now after THE WOLFMAN's failure, I can almost guarantee the CFTBL remake will be a light-hearted PG-13 adventure film with plenty of CGI action. ;)

I watched this film last weekend thinking it would be bad due to hearing about the production problems and bad reviews.

I came out of the cinema thinking it was a pretty good film. 7/10 in my books.

I only wish that the transformation was done more with practical effects. Also for it to be slower and more painfull due to all the changes going on in the body.

I have not seen it in about twenty years, but i'm thinking of tracking down The Howling. I remember that the transformations seemed so real back then. I wonder how they hold up after all these years?

I watched "The Howling" about 2 weeks ago and it's still impressive! I agree that CGI can be taken too far sometimes and it's got to be fairly expensive.
