Interesting! Well, any estimate I'd make would purely be based on a "gut feeling". Since I don't work in the toy industry, or any other related branch, I have no basis to make a just estimate, and I belive that counts for most of us here. I won't be guessing, as IMO it only gives companies ideas about how much collectors would lay down for specific items, and how far they can push the price. The price one is willing to pay, and the actual price of something, are two different things. Compared to their retailers, Sideshow handles a larger profit margin, so it seams. And as far as I'm concerned, I don't want to pay more than necessary.

Even more interesting would be if we could get a very detailed break down of the cost of a 1/6 scale figure. A chart of some kind, that illustrates precisely how much of the actual cost of making a 1/6 figure goes into research, materials, tailoring, transport, advertising, profit, ... Now that would be interesting. I bet a few of us will be very surprized! Is there anybody here on the board that has this kind of expertise and would like to share?

We'll never get that because it would show how inflated some of the stuff is. Could you imagine if Sideshow did that for the Obi-Wan figure or this Snake Eyes fiasco? You would see that the figure should only be hitting around the $60 price mark if even.

It is easier to gouge when people don't know what the price should actually be.

i disagree... i wouldn't doubt that they will price Vader around the $150 marker. and i think Snake Eyes is overpriced. everyone says its because he comes with so many accessories. well so do many of the Hot Toys military, Soldier Story, figures, and they all seem to be cheaper. i've seen some of them go for less than $100. and they come with just as many accessories:...

You are forgetting there is a licensing fee added on top for the G I Joe license; without that, it would probably be almost exactly the same as the Hot Toys military figures, some of which are around $120 as well.

As for the price of Vader, I don't think Vader is any more detailed or difficult than Obi-wan in armor was, and I don't think they will be pricing him "too" high just because he is Vader, so I'm guessing in the $89.99 to $99.99 range. Mark my words...

I so want you to be right...

Vader isn't that armored and he probably won't come with much stuff...

Plus, if they do 3 or 4 different versions, that's where the cash will come from...

And the fact a lot of people want one...

This is an intersting discussion--there are a lot of factors going into the Vader price, and honestly I won't be surprised wherever it may land. I think it's a given that they are going to sell about a gazillion of them, with a smaller total number of individual costume/accessory pieces than Snake Eyes. Vader seems more complex than Clone Obi-Wan, but in the same ball park, and I suspect that the price might not be as high as some fear. We certainly won't be getting a Vader with this many accessories:

I will not likely get into the Joe line, but I have to admit that Snake Eyes is a well equipped figure, and I can see where the money is going moreso than with some other recent costly figures. Yes, he breaks new ground in price point territory, but I don't think every new figure will cost this much. A lot of work went into this guy, and he won't be selling Star Wars numbers to amortize that investment.

I'm thinking around $100 for Vader. He is around Obi-Wan in terms of Armor and clothing, but a little bigger with height and the helmet, so a little more expensive. Obi doesn't come with much either too.

No way Vader will cost as much as Snake Eyes, for all the reasons you can see in the pic Tomandshell posted. I voted for the 99-109 price range.

I would imagine it's a heck of a lot cheaper to put a figure in a robe than in those pants that Snake Eyes is rocking. All those tiny buckles and straps!

:google

Y'all who think Vader will cost as much or more than Snake Eyes are crazy. This is Sideshow folks.

Why bother giving Sideshow ideas? They are testing how much customers are willing to shell out per figure no matter what the actual costs are.

Thanks for making this one easy for me. After my guess on Snake Eyes...I find that it seems I need these types of questions dumbed down for me as far as helping me to not guess too high by not giving me a higher option.

Considering Palps was over $200 for me, I think I need to find some money...just in case...

Still...$12 discount for me...

Then again...$188 is still a lot...

by the time Vader is up for preorder I should have a little over $60 in RP to take off the final price.

I like to think in terms of final price. I know for us Californians, a $120 figure is closer to a $140 figure and have identical shipping price as those who live in the northern tip of Maine or the Florida keys.

Is it more expensive in Europe even though Sideshow has a EU warehouse that receives product directly from China?

I predict Vader could be as high as $200 plus tax / shipping because of popularity.
