Indeed, prior to that, custom comissions were more like buying a work of art, but since then, custom sales have become more and more commercial and almost truned this place into an e-store.

The guys who offered work before then were faced with trying to keep up with the new wave or throw in the towel, naturally they tried to keep up and it didn't work out, but even some who came along post change have had struggles and failures.

Ultimately, the demand and short patience of many is too much to keep up with, the successful selleres learned to drive the work by what they can handle and no outstretch thenselves trying to keep up with demand.

Before 2ppi, there wasn't really a competitive quality to comissions here either, all the artists had a niche and you went to whoever served your purpose. Now there's a sense that if you don't offer it someone else will and you have to do it better or offer more units or get them out faster.

As a pre-2008 member, I miss the old days.

I agree man. In those days it was more like artists sharing art, and those who wanted them asking to purchase them. It wasn't anything near what it is today. I jumped in on that near the end and I regret it more than anything I have EVER done in my entire life. I did a few group commissions and it effectively ENDED my "career" as an artist.

Now this board is a pale shadow of what it once was, and I don't have a sliver of desire to come here at all.

The answer to your question is no you don't get to do that.

You don't get to indulge yourself in anything until you repay your debt. Your a failed artist whoa is you. Your a criminal who stole thousands of dollars from hard working people with problems just like you and your trying to justify it to yourself.

$500 for a god damn rubber mask that could have all gone to mailing back people's goods. Instead you made the choice to continue hurting them and pleasure yourself.

Hundreds spent on xbox games, hours squandered playing like a child. Sickening.

Well, they way you originally posted, in my opinion, seemed to frame things in a specific way where the new customers were primarily responsible. I hear what you are saying here.

Really?.... Sob stories? All I am saying is that I am in a position that is keeping me financially from going and mailing off several hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. Do you honestly think that I am sitting in hundreds of dollars that I could spend on ANYTHING, let alone mail out all that stuff?

I'm glad that you know me that well to make such a judgment on my financial status. I'm sure plenty of criminals have wives and kids, but they are willing to hold up a bank to pay back those they owe. A REAL criminal wouldn't be in my situation, they would have already disappeared.. and they would have used a fake name in the first place.

To be fair, pre 2008 customs taking 6 months to a year plus was the norm. It was the influx of new members with higher expectations and less patience which began to change things here.

Rereading it, I can see how you (karamazov) would see that. But the context of my comment was more about the general board attitude rather than Josh's situation specifically (which is only an appendage of the larger issue at work).

Really? ____ you dude... I didn't spend money on that mask any time after this whole mess went down. I stupidly spent that money back when I got a nice Financial Aid check. I would have already sold it if Ebay hadn't stopped allowing for sales of Myers masks. It was a dumb decision. I am ____ING HUMAN, I make mistakes just like all of you.

As for the games, I get them used for one.. and usually by trading in other games. And that is usually only on the few that I don't get as gifts for Birthdays or Christmas...

____ you bro.. You can kiss my ass. If anyone wants to buy the Myers mask I will GLADLY sell it. I just have no means to do so at this time. If I list it, it will be removed. As for those comics, I got them all at .99... and like I said.. those are are a back up if I don't get enough saved and need quick cash during the summer when I am home taking care of Drake and without work until the school year starts again.

it doesn't matter if you buy comics at .99 a pop or used games. buy 20 comics at .99 and that's about $20. that's more than enough to send out a few peoples stuff. those flat rate boxes at the post office only cost $5 to ship and they hold a lot.

I'm sorry Marc, I didn't mean to get so worked up... I'm just so frustrated about this situation.. I don't know what I am supposed to do anymore. I'm just going to stay out of this..

You guys can blast me all you want. I guess I should spend every dollar I have left on this situation and never do anything for myself. And I guess I should not buy my family gifts or buy food or clothing... I guess I should just sell every item I own, clothes, everything.. live on the street... but at least my debts will be square. Right?
