What do you call it when you're running around like a Carnival Barker saying Hasbro's 3 3/4" looks better than Sideshow's Utapau? Not only is it a ridiculously absurd comparison, it's intent can only be construed as insulting.

He pointed out a mistake in the sculpt

Id sooner him do that than follow like a Lemming saying nothing

Nam give it a rest please

Whatever. It is what it is. Hasbro's 3.75" Clone helmet sculpt is more accurate than Sideshow's Utapau one. And what do you know of my "intent"? Apparently nothing.

So, pointing out that the helmet sculpt is indeed inaccurate and stating that we hope it is fixed is "insulting" and "sculptor bashing"?? Ohhh...kay.

Seriously, you must be either dating someone at Sideshow or you work there yourself... because if not this is becoming sociopathic.

Thank you. But he's not likely to give it a rest anytime soon (unless forced to by the mods). He's been doing this since he joined the boards.

And I think it's now unfair to Josh for folks to call thenammagazine "the new Josh", because at least Josh had this to say:

Despite my Super Fan status or status as a total ****** bag who thinks SS is perfect I know they're not. I'm glad others are pickier than I am because SS probably wouldn't get better if they had millions of fans like me.

Anyone post a shaded shot of the Medi EP3 clone ? just to compare sculpts ?

best I can do for now.

Ah, but we're not talking about me. I own up to the content of my posts. You on the other hand, well, here, for starters:

:lol Awesome.

And I wouldn't ^^^^ on the faces of whoever approved this sculpt, either. But I would recommend a good Optometrist. :lecture

It's more than that. Everything from the "nose" down is the wrong shape. And the bottom half of the visor is far too thin.

It doesn't bug you at all that Sideshow's 12" Clone helmet isn't even as accurate as Hasbro's 3.75" one? That should never happen and should be unacceptable.

Now, back to the topic of Sideshow's lacking EP3 Clone helmet sculpt...

...sculptor bashing? Nah! :p

...sculptor bashing? Nah! :p

Actually, it isn't. He's not saying the sculptor's a hack or talentless or anything derogatory about the person who sculpted it. All he's saying is that it's not right and has a hard time grasping the innaccurracy when other companies have created pieces of the same design and got it right.

It's a bit over the top to point out that Hasbro got it done in a 3 3/4" scale, but it also emphasizes the point.

And knowing Irish's postings regarding Sideshow for a long time around here, I know how he feels. Irish loves Sideshow like a parent loves a child. Proud of their highlight moments, but giving tough love when he knows they're not living up to their potential. He's emphatic about the helmet fix because it's not as though getting the helmet right is impossible, it's been done many times, so his point is, don't settle for what you've got, I know you're capable of making something as nice as anyone else out there has, so do it, make the best Clone that everyone knows you're capable of.

100% Spot-On, good sir.

It's inaccurate, plain and simple. I'm probably going to still get it, but Irish is right: there's no reason Hasbro, Gentle Giant and Koto got it right and SS didn't. They're the last to put it out, and got it wrong. Does it make me hate the figure? No. I don't enjoy looking at pics of it as much. I don't think anyone's bashing SS just a little bewildered that it took so long for armored characters to get made and they got the helmet wrong. Now hopefully SS looks into these forums and realizes their mistakes and either correct the Utapau helmet or correct future releases. SS is a very collector friendly company and I have faith they will address this issue. That's my hope.

I hope they fix the helmet sculpt too. I always hold Sideshow in high reguards with the 1/6 Star wars line, and hope to continue to do so. So I hope they do go back and revisit this sculpt, at least before the "501st" version comes out.

I don't plan on buying the Utapau clone because I don't really care for the color scheme

But,

For future releases I would like to see the helmet corrected to be more accurate.

If they do not correct it. I'll choose to vote with my dollar :monkey2 (that's gonna be a ^^^^ty day.

I've heard rumors that a resculpt might be in the works. If it is, my order stays. If there is no resculpt, my order will be canceled. Simple (and sad) as that.

When I initially saw the pics, I thought something was off with the helmet. I just was not an expert to point out the exact issues. After seeing the comparison pics, I now know what was buggin' me.

My 6 year old son noticed the problem with the helmet when he first saw the pic and pointed to the "breather" part and said "that's not right." That blew me away.

I'm getting the figure for him, regardless, but it sure would be nice if the helmet quirks were addressed before release.

I just noticed that the Utapau Clone Trooper page on the Sideshow site still lacks a 360 QTVR. That, to an extent, reassures me that Sideshow might just realize that the current prototype is less than ideal. Hopefully they are waiting for the new helmet sculpt before showing us the 360 view.

It make good sense for Sideshow to get the helmet right. Think about the number of times this sculpt would need to re-appear down the road.

Allot of the more recent releases have lacked the usual 360 view though which is dissappointing as i love looking at them

I noticed that about the items that were announced during Spooktacular, but I put it off to the fact that the web team was busy with the blistering frequency of announcements in that short amount of time. They've been gradually rectifying the situation, as I assumed they would. We still rarely get to see QTVRs of Medicom or Hot Toys products, which, I'll assume, is because Sideshow rarely gets prototypes for in-hand photo shoots. But the fact that they haven't given us this QTVR makes me thing that they're up to something. :)

Either that or just being lazy. My buddy got an email for a contest he won in Spook and it had another winners complete contact information still at the bottom... address, phone number, everything.

Okay....let's just say some folks have issues with the helmet sculpt's accuracy...and move on, shall we? thanks....
