It's more than that. Everything from the "nose" down is the wrong shape. And the bottom half of the visor is far too thin.

Yet it's not nearly as "drastic" as you'd have everyone believe:

Even that helmet on the right has lots of things wrong with it.

Like what? That photo is taken from a bit of a lower angle, but I can assure you that the Master Replica helmets are as close to screen-accurate as it gets. Well, except that they don't come weathered.

Depends on your definition. To my knowledge, the MR buckets were molded from the stunt helmets, not the hero versions. So naturally, they'd be less accurate/detailed.

Your knowledge is way off then, as there were no helmets to be "molded" from. All Clone armor (helmets included) were 100% CGI and Master Replicas used the same 3D renderings provided by ILM to make the helmets. There is no such thing as a "stunt" clone helmet.

Perhaps you're thinking of the MR Stormtrooper bucket, which is closer to the ANH "stunt" helmet than the ROTJ "hero" one. And that was by design, as the ANH stunt helmets were actually seen more onscreen and are considered to be the more "classic" look of the Stormies. Incidentally, here is where Sideshow knocked it out of the park on their Stormtrooper 12". They got the helmet right there (whereas Medicom did not... that one is a mish-mash of 3 different Stomtrooper helmet styles).

Sideshow's success on the ANH Stormtrooper helmet sculpt makes their miss on the EP3 clone that much more puzzling and frustrating.

They dont seem that bad imho

Obviously id like it as exact as possible, but I cant see SSC making these revisions to this before its released.

If they can revise future ones great. But Its not a large deal breaker for me anyway

The large deal breaker is the price and the pathetic stand as the exclusive

With an crap exclusive pretty much same as the regular both are too expensive direct from SSC

Id pay SSC retail price for a cool exclusive but there isnt one.

Ive ordered the exclusive but Im gonna have my finger hovering over cancel for some time. With no edition size on the regular yet, Ill hold off cancelling but I have that sinking feeling this ones gonna have to fall by the wayside

It doesn't bug you at all that Sideshow's 12" Clone helmet isn't even as accurate as Hasbro's 3.75" one? That should never happen and should be unacceptable.

I could understand a headsculpt likeness being off

but given SSC's portfolio of work I have to concede its unusual to see something like this in the armour dept.

Those of us with limited space looking for the most screen accurate will probably cancel

Those that arent as picky wont

Im not sure which category I fall under atm

Afterall I was thinking of combining this with a Koto Bly for the Commander

But its a tad expensive kit bashing material :(

Maybe sense will kick in with me yet and Ill chance my arm at the secondary market

Isn't that Mooncat's opinon? Why try to change it? You're always preaching to me to respect others. How about practicing a bit of what you preach? And again, if it's so "unacceptable" to you Irish, DON'T BUY IT :lol! I found something else interesting while poking around for the comparison photo quote I posted earlier:

Just be a little kinder guys our artists work very hard and it's not always a good thing for people to slam someone's work. I'm not saying don't say anything just be more constructive about - this is not aimed at anyone in particular this is a message to all.

He has some valid points Nam

I also understand its pro's

Its still cheaper than Medi (although at SSC's current retail is on a par with older Medi clones on the bay)
Its still taller than Medi

However

Medi's can stand up on their own, I doubt this could if Gen Obi is the yard stick for the new Armoured

Its got its pros and its cons

Its down to the individuals at the end of the day

All I know is, with the current financial constraints hitting here and across the pond, collectors will become more choosey, more ticks are required to gain those $$$, £££'s and Euros from collectors

Fin looks like it doesn't come down far enough and the boomarang looking nosevent looks like it curves up to high.

If sideshow at least fixed add the rounded bulkness of the base parts, it will be fine by me.

:lol That doesn't mean I don't respect his opinion. He replied and defined his position even more clearly, and that's cool.

Now, back to the topic of Sideshow's lacking EP3 Clone helmet sculpt...

I suspect someone's order will arrive from Sideshow with a well deserved, ripe odor of taint for all the sculptor bashing done. Matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you got the special Nitpicker Ex Mr. Hankey in Utapau Armor! :naughty

"Sculptor bashing"? Seriously, dude... give it a rest,

What do you call it when you're running around like a Carnival Barker saying Hasbro's 3 3/4" looks better than Sideshow's Utapau? Not only is it a ridiculously absurd comparison, it's intent can only be construed as insulting.
