More than that Dave, the visor's still narrow, the grate part over the mouth is still flat and sharp, and the housing area for the aerators is still the same as the proto. The only thing that looks to have changes is the area for the "nose".

It doesn't look horrible, but I still hope the remainder of stuff gets changed for future clone Troopers. It's kinda like a Han portrait with Harrison's face but Hammil's eyes.

I edited my post because after looking at it closer, the housing areas for the aerators is changed and they are larger. As I said, it's hard to tell without straight on pics.

Dunno, maybe it's just me but the outer two, same mask, different angle? :huh For the record, I do see paint touchups, but that's about it.

You can't see there's a big hole now around the black piece between the aerators? :huh

And I'm not trying to be a ^^^^ asking this btw.

If the mask was in the same position, potentially. But the fact that the pic on the right is not only considerably closer, but at a different angle, makes it hard to determine if it wasn't on the original and just painted black or hidden in shadow. Again, I acknowledged the paint touch up but other than that, I don't see it.

I don't understand how it's even a question. The proto was a black square on the tip of the white mask, now there's a carved recess it resides within, far more than a new paint job.

The aerators are paint, if you look close, at least with the brightness of my monitor, I can see there's more to the part that's grey on the proto and there just wansn't a covering paint job, but on the production figure it's fully painted.

I think fixing the "nose" is big and makes a difference, and of Irish's pointed out spots, I'd say the visor's the only significant one that wasn't done. Yes there are other details, but the difference in visor sizes really changes the look for the "face".

I can see that they revised the hexagon shape between the aerators, but that is about it. The fact that all the other collectible companies have been able to obtain much closer replicas of the real thing, I don't think it would be wise to let Sideshow slide on this unless you want all your troopers with these defects.

These are obvious geometric flaws--not subtle nuances of a person's face. It does not take an artist or someone with intimate knowledge of a clone mask to see them.

Looks better now from any issues before. I'll have no problems having this on order and adding it to my collection.

Its supposed to ship in April. I doubt we're going to see more corrections and honestly at this point they're so small only the most anal folks are gonna have problems.

Once you see production photos, it's not going to change.

But I think with some head on shots, we'll see it's closer than it was. There's definitely a resculpt involved, the crest has changed too.

If a resculpt was involved, why did they make so little changes? The more I look at the photos, the more I am convinced nothing was changed--only paint was involved.

The problem is, we are viewing it from the side, so it looks different. Check out this pic:

It looks pretty identical to what we saw before. Anyone have hi-res pics of the proto?

No changes? I think you're only seeing what you want to see Justin. The little black thing in the middle is larger and that area comes to much lesser of a point that before. Hell, I see that and I'm known for seeing only roses.

There was changed, just not enough to change people's mind. I personally never saw it until it was pointed out. But now that Im aware of it, I question why not fix the whole helmet? I think the round , pinched at the bottom airators (SP?) is what is throwing it off. Not exactly a deal breaker, but Im hoping this is fixed in future troopers.

Josh, I know you think I am looking for problems and want to criticize it. But that is not true. After looking back on the previous pages with the proto pics, you right that the middle has changed. But that is all I can see. Anyone see more changes? The black stripe down the middle is just added paint. The width or shape of the visor wasn't changed. I just don't understand why a professional sculptor would take the time to make one revision and leave all the other existing problems.

Compare this to the Gentle Giant bust:

They made the changes that stand out to me. So now it looks just fine.

I don't know man. I think something could be as perfect as can be and you'd still look to find something. The black stripe down the center comes all the way through now and makes everything connect.

i think people analyze this crap too much.:lol try going outside and see the sun once in awhile. maybe look at a tree or pat a dog on the head.

:lol

Whether it's new paint or a new sculpt, it looks good to me. I'll be happy with it in my collection.
