Well as much as I want Clones in my collection, I'm gonna cancel this if it's coming out like this. I'll speak to Sideshow with my wallet and hope future Clones get a corrected helmet. When i first saw the helmet proto, I was taken back and knew something looked off. After more detailed comparison photos came out, the differences are glaring. Here's hoping they fix it for future releases. I want Clones dammit but don't want to pay $90.00 for one with an inaccurate helmet when Hasbro got it right at $7.

:lol

Whether it's new paint or a new sculpt, it looks good to me. I'll be happy with it in my collection.
honestly, if it wasnt for this thread i would have gone through my entire life with this guy on my shelf and never know if the vents were slightly out of shape. who cares. close enough.

I can see it better now. The aerator definitely changed the and overall helmet looks to be a bit wider.

I think it looks good (but then I always did anyway).

It's not perfect but it's better. The black part between the aerators is definitely updated. The rest is simply paint. I'm guessing that any impression of the helmet being wider is simply due to the photography. Vader looks the same way (smooshed) in his official pics.

It appears good enough for me, I want it and all of the other flavors of phase II clonetroopers. And then phase I for dessert.

i thought phase I was "collect underpants" and phase III was "profit"?

:duh

I still don't see it. :lol IMO, the visible difference is probably issues of repaints/touchups, lighting/shadows and distance/closeness. Either way I could really care less about these minute details. I've had two Ex on preorder since it went up and don't plan on canceling. It still, and always has, looked like a clone trooper to me whether or not the aerators are round or flat topped, beaked or debeaked, wide visor or narrow, blah... blah... blah....

'course it'd be an entirely different story if he'd wound up looking as bad as Snake Eyes did in his production shots...

No your not, I feel the same way about the changes too.
Then again, I would most probably be classified as being anal too by the rest.

Gotta pick a side sometime. Anal or Apologist? :lol

Well I'm a bit late to the argument but I can see sculpting changes to the mic area wich is now hexagonal like it should be rather then that pinched square and the fin has been tapered into the helmet the rest though does apear to just be paint to me. Infact looks exactly like the paint changes I said I would do to it if it shipped the way the prototype looked. All in all I'm happy with the changes made and the discrepencies from the film i can deal with long as they continue to try and improve it with future clones.

TNM and others, I am glad you guys are happy with the way it turned out. I don't think the Snake Eyes production version is a big deal because you can find ways to bulk him up. It's not a sculpting issue which is impossible to fix without making a new helmet yourself.

What still boggles my mind is this:

We know making new steel molds is expensive. We also know they tweaked the sculpt before making the master molds. Otherwise, the production would be identical to the proto, which it is not. So, if they went to the trouble of correcting the hexagon shape, why not the fix the rest of the proportion problems since these helmet molds will be re-used x1000 times over? If they make a more accurate helmet for future clone variants, it will cost them even more money to re-hire a sculptor and pay for new steel molds.
