Good lord...that photo is of one of Glenn's figures? It's not Prowse in costume?!?

I know. When I first saw the picture I thought it was a promo shot of the actual costume. It's amazing that he can make a 1/6 figure that looks so real. I hope he doesn't change anything that abake suggested because the figure in its' current incarnation looks absolutely perfect to me.

He asked for critique and got a very well thought out detailed and nice critique. I agree with a lot he said while at the same time being very, very impressed with Hurricane's work. Nothing is perfect, there's always room for improvement and if you read this thread you can easily see that 'cane is always looking to improve his customs (and is always improving them). Sometimes though, as 'cane pointed out outside critique (even if it's bad critique) is incredibly useful.

I really am impressed by your work Hurricane and see the announcement of Sideshow's Vader not as a trumpet sounding the demise of your custom Vaders but the coming of a time where they will be even better. You will be able to focus more on making the details better than spending so much time on just getting something like the boots to look close to right.

I'm glad my attempt at constructive criticism was not taken badly by you Glenn (if I may call you Glenn).
As I said, it's not easy to critique something from mere pictures, especially something that looks as good as your work does. I guess it essentially becomes an exercise in finding what's wrong with something that looks pretty damn perfect. Nitpicking, as it were.
And, as the nature of the game is nitpicking, I think I know now what throws the proportions off to me: the cod piece looks a bit small. I think that makes Vader look too V-Shaped.

Or maybe, as Brent72 pointed out, I'm way too picky! :D

That is one great looking figure, BTW! The thrown-back cape looks fantastic.
Anyway, looking forward to finally having SST's Vaders so I can send one off to you Glenn!

Glenn just mailed me some pictures of this awesome 1/6 metal Vader lightsaber he's making for my ANH Vader. Check it out!! :monkey5:monkey5

that is gonna be awesome LV. cant wait to see him in all his glory. :rock

Glenn,

I'm always amazed because just when I think your Vaders cannot get any better you find a way to improve them. Real metal and leather parts? I mean come on, how can it get better? I imagine you are your worst critic and perhaps as big a Vader expert as anyone here.

What are you most curious to see on the Sideshow Vaders? Anything in particular? Does a new body make you curious? The hybrid Bodies you're making look awesome.

we'll see what they produce, personally i would have thought theydve gone for a stormy first, to see how their armored figures are received , THEN do vader....no matter how good they get vader someone will moan, i can see them doing it well, but 'ultimate'? As for the body thatll be nice but again i hope they get it right, Prowse was a big guy as vader.....Im curious to see the end result, maybe ill be able to tweak them maybe not, but itll give a me a chance to develope something else, dust off and refine the RCs and an R2 project ive accumilated for...now for some no doubt scandalous comments....sideshows premium format wasnt that accurate, its good, but not accurate, but i s'spose it depends how fussed you are for accuracy.Id love to get one and correct it or rework it to another version...

I've got the PF and even though it's definitely not accurate it's still a pretty impressive display piece. I don't regret purchasing it, but I would like to see SS revisit Vader with another PF in the future that's more accurate(perhaps an ESB or ROTJ model).

Glenn just let me know that my Vader is finished. I asked him to create the most screen accurate ANH Vader possible.

I'll let the photos speak for themselves:

Couldn't be happier and cannot wait to see him in person. He truly is a master!

:rock Gorgeous all around! Congrats, that is a fantastic Vader! I love that you went the 100% screen accurate route. :chew

I can't wait to see the rest as well as mine as they are finished up.

Anything else? Geez, apparently either I'm really simple or you're way too picky because I don't find problems with any of the areas you mentioned. If you can honestly look at this picture and say it's not the best damn 1/6 Vader ever created then I don't know what else to say.

Glenn, I hope you don't take abake's critique too seriously because I don't want my basic ESB to look any different than what is pictured above. It's absolute perfection IMHO.

I wish I had this version too...:monkey2 It's so f*&% awesome :banana Excellent job!

Just got an e-mail from Glenn saying mine is 99.9% done. Should be here very soon. :chew

hi, as above Brents vader is done, photos tonight, ive revised the body further over the existing ones a new collar has been devised for the cape, i looked at the shoulders being to suare and some diferences will be evident in brents, with the announcement of sideshows one ive taken yet another hard look at these and am trying to make something so detiled and accuarate that they will still remain more than just a 'custom vader'
Gloves have been revised to conceal that err 'cobbled' look, even trying to make full leatherette gloves whichll go over 1/6 bendy hands.:banghead.
All sections of the figure, shin guards.belt chest box have now got scaled 'faste-ex' fasteners.New molds made for the resin saber hilts using the recent metal saber hilt i made for lord vicious (thats why you aint received it yet mate ).the hang of the capes been addressed, i cant water treat them as thatll burn out the electronics , but they being weight hanged to settle more realistically. Those waitng on deluxes will hopefully be happy with the completely reworked reveal internals, based upon accurate measurements of the real thing.New mouth grills have been created as well as chin ones where applicable.like i said pics of the first new ESB later.Thanx for everyones patience especially Ian1138s, his has been completely rebuilt to include all the new stuff.
