Man... I need to rescrub my Daredevil; that red just bleeds through the paint :gah:

That does clean off. Mine's face used to bleed, but it doesn't anymore.

On cleaning Joes, the #9 size rubber washers from Home Depot are a near perfect size to replace broken bands. Just be careful pushing it through the pelvis piece b/c they are a little rigid.

I need to post a few pics of a few of the really horrible looking figures from my youth... I have this ESB Lando/AT-AT Commander cross pollination experiment is a site to behold.

Alright, we gotta see this... :)

Alright, we gotta see this... :)

SS Yoda comes today so I'll snap some pics of the my old SW figs when I'm snapping pics of him... Some are horrible... I have a Gammy that looks as if it was cooked in the oven.:lol

I've been picking up some loose SW figs through the Bay this week. I got Hammerhead w/blaster and FX-7 for .99 cents ea., Klatuu and Bossk, both complete for 2.00 ea., and a decent looking complete Ben for 6.50. I also picked up a Cheif Chirpa headdress for 2.50 which is funny considering I bought 4 complete figures that were each less than that one little Ewok hood. Of course it remains to be seen if they're all in good condition, even if the pics look good and the sellers claims they are.

For those who have put together vintage sets before, is this how it normally goes? By that I mean many figures can indeed be had for low, low prices, so when you only have 30-40 figures you can build pretty quickly, but once you're closing in on needing nothing but POTF it then slows down pretty dramatically?

That was my experience... although I also would collect in bursts. Typically when I had a lull in other purchases, or just got a wild hare I'd go back to looking for new pick ups.

But the POTF are a real barrier... and I'm all about getting the most with the least amount of $$$. So it took me awhile to find that right balance of cost and condition with some of pricier figures.

It's pretty fun picking these guys up at such low prices... hell, Vintage Collection figures are going for 9-10 bucks at local retailers, so picking up real vintage figures for a fraction of that seems like a real steal.

Yep, its quite a lot of fun at first since you can get some killer deals. Still fun when its more expensive, but it can be daunting :lol

And here's a fun vintage happening for me this week. About a year ago I went to test out my Tie Interceptor only to find out (like a dumbass) I had left batteries in it for about 8 years :google Needless to say the terminals were completely corroded and unsalveagable.

So, fast forward to last week a guy on Rebelscum has a parted out Interceptor and is selling the pod (with working electronics) for $5 shipped! So, it comes in the mail, a few minutes dismantling and reassembling and I now have a fulling functioning Tie Interceptor again :rock :rock :rock

I love that red light and the odd buzzing noise it makes :hi5:

Some not all. LOL.

:lol That is freaking awesome!:rock

Speaking of Rebel Scum, their vintage photo archive is a great resource, especially for figuring out which color blasters came with which figures, etc. Hell, I could browse that section all day just learning about all the variants. :lol

Hell yeah it is... I love their archive :rock

If you like books though the Kellerman one is easily the best; still one I want to have in my collection. Just sucks that it now runs around $80 :google Another good option (and one I used a lot) is the Star Wars Action Figure Archive... you can get it cheap and it has a lot of useful information and is a fun coffee table book.

Downside is that it also includes stinky Hasbro figures :yuck

Yup, I've only really gotten into the swing of it recently.

It still takes a back seat to vintage GI Joe, but it's a real treat getting these figures that were so important to me back in the day. As for the POTF... well, I just take it slow. I don't mind paying the big bucks as long as I'm in no rush, and it kind of guarantees I'll wait for the best condition, too.

I had a line on an Amanaman recently that I regrettably had to pass on, due to some paint rubs on the back of his feet. I dunno - maybe I should be the kind of collector who isn't so OC about that, but if I'm going to pay that kind of money I might as well wait for a mint one. It'll come along soon enough...

At the end of the day you're the one that has to be happy with the collection. And Amanaman is awesome enough that there is no harm in holding out for a good one :rock

Nice pic!

Yup, totally agree. No need to rush on any of these, especially the POTF guys. I've been lucky enough to get a few already in dead mint condition - so far I've got all the Ewoks, Endor Luke, and General Calrissian... Not much yet but it's a start!

Still need to finish out the ESB and ROTJ lines as well, though.

I think you might be a bit off my friend... but not matter; Pulsar will soon be on his way to you :duff

Yeah re-reading it, I just can't seem to get the words to say what I was thinking LOL. My bad. :(

Awesome piece. I hope I can have one one day.
