Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis May Lead the Wachowskis’ Sci-Fi Film JUPITER ASCENDING
This was announced last year in March 2012.

Steven Weintraub ‏(aka colliderfrosty on Twitter) of Collider.com mentioned the following earlier today. Can't wait to hear more about it.

"Just spoke to Channing Tatum after SIDE EFFECTS press conference. Said what the Wachowskis are planning is the craziest s*** he's ever seen."

I understand if some feel this is just hyperbole like many actors talking about their directors, but when it comes to Wachowskis, no matter what one feels about their movies (post The Matrix) they have kept pushing the boundaries of cinema with their unique visual storytelling techniques. So yeah in this case hyperbole is probably closer to the real deal.

The movie starts shooting on Feb 16, 2013. Additional casting is now taking place in LA, Chicago and in UK (end of March at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden).

Aside from The Matrix (and some bits from Reloaded), I can't think of anything they've done that I've liked. Regardless of what they do with the visuals, if the story and character are not there, it's boring.

The Matrix and V are ok.

Just Googled them though and saw that apparenlty Larry had a sex change and is a woman now? What the ****? When did that happen?

I liked the Matrix movies for the most part. And Cloud Atlas was my favorite film of last year. So I am looking forward to this one. Channing Tatum and his wooden acting ability notwithstanding.

well there are rumors that they stole the idea for the Matrix from some woman. She even tried to sue them but lost the case.

She said that they took her idea and made the first movie, the fact that the other two sequels are so different and how much they suck kind of makes you wonder if they really did steal

They also copied a lot of the Matrix from some comics.

I can't believe studios keep giving them money to make movies.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I reviled The Matrix. Philosophy for 15 year old males who only read comic books.

Still, since they make Science Fiction films more often than not, I tend to root for their movies to be good.

The first matrix is a classic, one of the best films of the 90s, everything else these two directors have done though, yeah not so much. We'll see what the trailer looks like though.

Looking good.

And something I read from few months back regarding the making of the film. There are CG worlds but there's very little, if not no digital stuntmen in the movie. The physical effects or stunt work were all done on camera.
