Looking at the blog and the many pics/prices, it's amazing how WDCC manages to sell out so quickly, despite the smaller scale and higher prices ... compared to other collectibles eg. sideshow, medicom, master replicas, etc.

Is there a better resale value or just that wdcc buyers have deeper pockets?

The reason they are priced higher even though smaller is that they are made of fine porcelain while Sideshow stuff is made of cheap polystone. The WDCC with limited editions of 500 or below tend to sell out and can command a high resale price on ebay. However, the majority of the open editions do not sell out and can be found easily on ebay for heavily discounted prices. WDCC has seen much better days when it comes to demand. Currently the line is suffering from the general malaise of the economy and new releases have been sharply cut back.

I am not a big collector of WDCC, but what I like is the small size yet the amazing detail that most statues have, I also like the 'plussing' concept of WDCC, which also prevent breaking issues (breakable parts made out of metal for instance). Most of WDCC is just spot on, like it walked right out of a Disney movie.

I also don't like PF's and big statues in general, mostly because of space issues. I have adapted myself by going for small statues that still come with spot-on details.

I see. So space is the main reason between sideshow (big) and wdcc (small). And quality/material between medicom (plastic/vinyl) and wdcc (porcelain/metal).

Probably disney has a bigger fan base as well.

But the prices on those that were sold out and big edition size, I still can't fathom eg. snow white dwarves on log ($999, ed size of 750), malificent transformation ($499, ed size 500), jungle book vultures ($299, ed size 1000)

I've seen collectors whining endlessly of such prices/big edition sizes, for sideshow, gentle giant, cinemaquette, etc. and not sell out as fast. Different fan base, i guess.

I like Uncle Scrooge's I may get that one. The others don't do too much for me.

I've got my King Louie "Jungle VIP" statue on order... I can't wait to get him.

Thanks for the link to the new piece announcements. But, again I have but one question....

:banghead:banghead:banghead WHERE'S MR. TOAD!!! :banghead:banghead:banghead

My mom took me to see Song of the South when it was re-released in 1980. I remember liking the Yippa-Dee-Doo-Da song and the adventures of Brer Rabbit. Who knew that would possibly be the only opportunity to see that film in my lifetime.

If you look around ebay, you can sometimes find a bootleg DVD of it.

Actually, the final re-release date was in 1986... for the film's 40th anniversary. It remember it because I was working at a theater as projectionist that ran the exclusive run of the film in our area. That was a privilage.

I remember reading that the Disney shareholders were considering a 60th anniversary re-release in 2006 but turned it down. However, Robert Iger has stated publically that the film will be released some time in the forseeable future... so cross your fingers.

on a side note, i didn't know where to put this as i didn't want to start a new thread, u guys know the jim shore disney line? :)

I'm familiar with it but I don't care for it. Too much artistic license. I don't like how he puts designs in the clothes and such. I almost bought the 7 Dwarfs on the log of his, but I just couldn't get past them wearing paisly shirts. However, I do have his "Crossing the Delaware" piece and I think its nice. The designs are only on the base. I like the rustic carved from wood look.

If anyone on here owns the Sleeping Beauty Signature Series diorama, do you think you could post some pics of it?:angelsmil

It is one of my most wanted Disney pieces and I would love to see in- hand pics of it.
