BlackMask, we love all the photos even when we don't say anything. I often post something that goes unmentioned also. Sometimes I'll refrain if all I can offer is "cool!".

Soooo I'm in the middle of DAY 4 of the Disneyland Resort. Yah, I was going to tap out at 3 but my parents decided that they wanted to check things out for themselves and who else to be their guide? Me. FML. (j/k)

Cars Land aka Radiator Springs. It's a pretty spectacular land even with only 3 rides. This is what it looked like opening morning.
DCA_1103.jpg

First ride is Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
DCA_0150.jpg

It's a fun scrambler ride that looks like kids play but is actually really fun. The queue is filled with nods to the Cars Toons.
DCA_0297.jpg

I prefer this to Mad Tea Cups! I won't get dizzy.
DCA_0301.jpg

We have Sarge's Surplus with cars toys.
DCA_0013.jpg

Fillmore's is basically a fruit and drink stand.
CARSLAND_0515.jpg

Cozy Cone Motel is a food location... or CONE-cession stands.
DCA_1131.jpg

Radiator Springs Curios is actually a pretty generic merchandise stand.
CARSLAND_0553.jpg

Flo's V8 Cafe is actually really good... serving up pork loin with Coca-Cola BBQ sauce, milkshakes, apple cheddar pie, and other tasty treats. They even have Racer 5 IPA on tap.
CARSLAND_0545.jpg

Next to Flo's is Doc's area but it's just more seating for the restaurant. Cool decorations though!
CARSLAND_0546.jpg

Luigi's Flying Tires is a nod to Disneyland's Flying Saucers of the 60s. It's slower but still fun.
CARSLAND_0495.jpg

CARSLAND_0594.jpg

The grand ride is Radiator Springs Racers. And man, it's a good one. Best thing built in CA since Indiana Jones Adventure in 1995.

You can even meet DJ in the land..

I was showing a friend some of my video from Epcot's Mission to Space yesterday. I didn't know a bunch of the set pieces are from the movie Mission to Mars. Notice the wheel in this scene:

Radiator Springs Racers. Skip if you don't want it ruined!

You begin your trip with a small cruise around Ornament Valley.
DCA_0331.jpg

Day quickly becomes Night as you have a near head-on collision with Mack.
DCA_0334.jpg

You safely dodge Minni and Van, avoid a train, then slowed down by Sheriff who says "Slow Down! You ain't racin' yet!"
DCA_0161.jpg

He then directs you to Mater who takes you tractor tipping.
DCA_0218.jpg

Frank isn't pleased and you race away to Radiator Springs.
DCA_0167.jpg

You greet Sarge, Filmore, Lizzie, Red, Sally and Lightning here.
DCA_0358.jpg

Then you are given two destinations. Go left, and you meet Luigi and Guido who give you new tires. Go right and get a paint job with Ramone and Flo.
DCA_0361.jpg

Pit Stop?
DCA_0363.jpg

Or new Paint?
DCA_0178.jpg

Doc Hudson is your new crew chief and you're nearly set to race.
DCA_0184.jpg

Luigi and Guido start the race.
DCA_0187.jpg

And we're off!
DCA_0380.jpg

DCA_0048.jpg

DCA_0275.jpg

You might win or lose... it's entirely random! Lightning and Mater greet you at the end and that's Radiator Springs Racers!

Cars Land looks absolutely incredible, the theming is fantastic.

I assume Racers has FastPass?

Related - Cohete, in WDW, they are now "enforcing" the hour window for FPs (aka they will hassle you, but will still let you in). Do you know if they started this in DLR?

Racers has both Single Rider line, Fast Pass, as well as Stand By. As far as enforcing them, I would assume they would start but not sure if they have yet.

Next up, a taste of Buena Vista Street.

This was the line to get into DCA at Grand Opening Friday morning.

There are new glow hats sold at the park and if you wear it during World of Color, they actually take control of it and it lights up when it needs to be.

I'm taking the family Sunday through Tuesday, but we won't arrive until about 4pm today. I will be very sad if they are at capacity by the time we get there.

Those pictures of Cars Land are astonishing. It looks like you've left Disneyland and are out in the desert. Can't wait for my kids to see it.

It might be a very busy day actually since most annual passes are GOOD TO GO Sunday-Tuesday. The fastpasses for Racers will be long gone by then and the queue will be 3-4 hours.

I recommend waiting until Monday morning, get there before the park opens and get fast passes for the ride as they sell out in the first hour and a half.

Have fun though!!! It really is a great addition. The food at Flo's V8 cafe is also great.

Also, I noticed some locations distributing buttons that advertise CarsLand.com. Keep an eye out for those to get for your kids. They're free.

I was there yesterday (Saturday) and while it was busy it wasn't actually bad because all pass holders were blocked out except the Premium, which is what I have.

I'll be in DLR first week of January. Hopefully, Cars Land mania will have died down some (just in time for the remnants of the Christmas break to keep it pretty busy).

I think once you get the locals satisfied and out of the picture, it will be better. But one can't account for those who decide to finally make a trip to the resort either. I don't know what kind of draw CARS still is but it might be enough to get more visitors.

I know one thing for certain though... Disneyland was mostly light this weekend.

Speaking of Disneyland, there were plenty of new things this weekend there as well!

The Carnation Cafe re-opened after an extensive remodel. It's still a table service restaurant in the center of Main Street next to Gibson Girl Ice Cream. I'll have to try it out and will report back.

Newly added to the front end of Great Moments of Mr. Lincoln is THE VOICES OF LIBERTY. Only until September though.
DISNEYLAND2012_0003.jpg

They sing various songs (of the patriotic nature) and very very well. It's actually amazing.
DISNEYLAND2012_0004.jpg

The Matterhorn Bobsleds reopened!
DISNEYLAND2012_0174.jpg

New Sleds now seat 6. Single Rider line is a Godsend.
DISNEYLAND2012_0135.jpg

Harold is louder than ever
DISNEYLAND2012_0137.jpg

What's awesome were the various musicians on the mountain.
DISNEYLAND2012_0151.jpg

Here's a Euphonium and Accordion duo
DISNEYLAND2012_0180.jpg

And the climbers are back!!! They were axed a while ago due to budget cuts but now they're back!

If they're anything approaching the quality of the singers at the American Adventure in Epcot, then they must be good. The concept of "acapella songs from the American past" probably couldn't sound much less interesting, until you've actually heard them.

I believe two of the singers were from the Epcot presentation and yah, it's probably the same concept. It was amazing.
