Great shot of the statue!

Anyone been to Carsland and the other new place yet? I was at California Adventure for Grad Night about a week ago, but things were still closed off and not opened yet.

Just got home from three days at Disneyland. We stopped by Cars Land Sunday night just to see all the neon and taste a few snacks. The pear soda from Cozy Cone #1 was my favorite, while my wife was brave enough to try the pickle popcorn from Cone #5.

We got to go into the park an hour early this morning and rode the Radiator Springs Racers two times and also the Luigi's Tire ride, plus shopping, snacks and the restrooms, all within two hours. I won't bother with the tires again, and I'm so thankful that we only waited ten minutes instead of the usual 90-120. That wouldn't be worth it! The Radiator Springs Racers ride was really impressive, though. I thought it was just a racing ride but there is a whole interior dark ride that comes before the race and that was incredible. Tons of life size animatronic cars coming to life, tractors tipping, etc. The best part was riding it twice with10-15 minutes of waiting instead of waiting four hours to ride it only once like everybody had to do later in the day.

The atmosphere in Cars Land is so much fun and it really feels like you are stepping right into the movie. (Too bad it's my least favorite Pixar movie, lol.) I can't imagine how great it would be if they actually invested that much time and money into a new land based on a movie that actually deserved it. But even considering my lack of enthusiasm for Cars the movie itself, the new land was so much more fun that I was expecting.

Haha where have you been the last few pages? I posted a ton of pics of Cars land. It really is a lot of fun and it's what we deserved in 2001: a highly themed land to anchor the park.

Here's a few more shots of Cars Land just for fun...

Racers sign. Ignore the wait time. You'll never see it that low. I was there for a special preview.

Part of the queue. The bridge is part of the ride.

This is how the ride begins!

I can never get a shot of this scene.

Viewing your pictures makes me feel like I'm on vacation :lol

For anyone who has been to both WDW and DL...how would you compare Fantasmic and World of Color? I don't need any spoilers if there are any (because I've never experienced WoC), but I've heard they are somewhat similar.

Which do you prefer and why?

Well Fantasmic is at both DLR and WDW, so you could compare even having only been to DLR. :wink1: Although I have yet to do Fantasmic in DL, only in DHS.

I guess they can be considered similar in some aspects, basically the water screens. But I think how they are utilized in their respective shows is different enough.

I really like Fantasmic, but the hassle of getting a seat in Hollywood is usually too much for me to deal with on an every-trip basis, so I usually see it every other year.

But having seen both, I absolutely would say you can't say "I've done this so I don't need to do that". I probably prefer Fantasmic, but have only done WoC twice, so I haven't formed a strong opinion either way. But definitely do WoC.

I've seen both Fantasmics and also seen World of Color so here's my assessment. But first, I'll describe a few differences between Disneyland's Fantasmic! and Walt Disney World's.

1. Disneyland's Fantasmic! is about 22 minutes long. Disney World's is much longer.

2. Disneyland's takes place on the Rivers of America on Tom Sawyer's Island. Guests sit along the edge of the river to watch the show. There's usually two shows nightly. The one at Disney's Hollywood Studios is in a massive ampitheater that fills just about the entire park's capacity.

3. Disneyland's setting is Tom Sawyer's Island by day magically transforms into the stage by night. DHS's is a rocky mountain stage that is unseen all day until the show.

4. Disneyland scenes not in WDW's: Jungle Book's Kaa drum cadence. Pink Elephants on parade. Peter Pan vs the Pirates. Pinocchio puppet sequence.

5. Walt Disney World scenes not in DL's: Mist screen bubble sequence. Pocahontas sequence. Mickey vs Jafar. Longer list of villains.

Verdict: I prefer Disneyland's more intimate show. The music is flows better while Florida chopped up the CA version and re-ordered it and replaced great scenes with ones that weren't as strong (Pocahontas or Peter Pan?). Disneyland also has the 2nd version of the Maleficent dragon that looks pretty amazing and works a lot better. The finale also takes place on the Mark Twain Steamboat, fitting more characters on it. Essentially, the show was made for Disneyland's strengths. It's still a great show at Florida but it loses some of the magic holding it in the amphitheater.

Now... World of Color is nothing like Fantasmic. Fantasmic is a show that makes use of mist screens as transitional segments. World of Color is 100% water segments.

World of Color has no story. It's essentially a series of Disney songs and some movie moments with choreographed water. It's akin to seeing the Fireworks on water.

World of Color is a 25 minute Bellagio fountain show on steroids. The only down side is that it feels too much like a Disney DVD Highlight Reel. But it has some great moments and worth watching.

How often does WoC incorporate the attractions into the show? When I saw it, they had "light cycles" racing across Screamin while the Tron soundtrack played - it made an amazing addition to that segment.

Haha. Sorry Coheteboy. I hadn't been on this forum for over a month until yesterday. Great shots! From what I've seen, it looks like a great place. Hopefully I'll get to check it out soon. The big rock structure really impressed me.

I saw Fantasmic a couple of weeks ago for the first time during Grad Night. It was spectacular, and I think Walt Disney would have loved it. I was really impressed with the giant dragon and the flames on the river!

World of Color is great if you're up front. If you're in the back and can't see the surface of the water, you're going to be blocked by the crowds and people sticking their kids up on their shoulders. They tell you that the viewing area was designed to give everyone a good view of the show, but don't believe them. I've seen it twice, and the experience was totally different. Standing farther back was a real disappointment after seeing it once up front and knowing how incredible the show can be.

I've never had a truly bad seat for Fantasmic. You can always see pretty much everything.

I have to agree with ya. Being able to see the fountains up front really add to the fun. And you can see a lot of the surface level laser effects too that is unseen by many.

Great pictures! Makes me want to visit the United States again.

I'm going to visit Disneyland Paris again mid July so I'm hoping for some dry and good weather.

Here are a couple of pictures I haven't posted here yet.

Those are GREAT pictures, Dunedain! I hope you do visit any of the parks soon to show us more!

I love Epcot but I'm not sure about the Finding Nemo attraction I liked it better when it was The Living Seas but that is my personal taste. I like the older stuff better then overhauling something a bit and at a Pixar twitch to it just to attract more visitors.

Fantastic photos!!

And yah, I generally agree with the "pixarification" of all the resorts. I actually think that now with Animal Kingdom, the Living Seas needs to exist in that park rather than Epcot.
