Congrats, that's a great piece, make sure you post some pics when you get it out. It's a space hog, but well worth it.

Helms deep wasn't bad, and you can pick it up pretty near cost still.

Pretty near cost? I haven't seen one go for remotely near cost in years. My LCS was clearing out their SSW environments last year and I picked up Helm's Deep, as well as the Mines of Moria, Amon Hen, Weathertop, and the Golden Hall for $30 apiece.

Now, thats a really good price on HD and Moria both pieces are really awesome IMO.

Yeah, I picked up several 1/4 scale busts for $20 apiece, and some 1/6 scale statues for $30 apiece as well.....it was a good day.

Yeah, almost as good as the day I walked in there only to see a SSW Orthanc environment in the display case selling at retail when it was already selling in the $500-600 range. I bought it, and the two others they had in storage......now that was an extremely good day!

A month ago a story like that would have had me looking for a length of rope and a chair.........now (with a new Orthanc on the horizon) not so much.

I'm seriously thinking of getting this and Rivendale. My friends who seen them at SDCC say its real nice up close and highly recommended it.

Yeah were LOTR fans in the Sierra household and I just have to get it for us. I'm mostly a statue collector, but man the numerous videos and pictures I saw of it were really impressive to look at.

You all will love it. This will fit in great with a statue collection and especially so if you have LOTR statues. The detail in both of these environments are really top notch.

I missed it. That was just before I got into collecting the statues so I'm glad to finally have a chance to add Orthanc to my collection. After getting Bag End CE at comic-con and having Rivendell on order as well I'm tempted to go back and get a couple of the old environments.

I'm looking at maybe getting the Bag End CE and was reading that thread. I noticed a few times that you said it was $100 too much for the CE. Now that you have it, do you still feel that way ? I'm just wondering for myself to see if it's worth it. Thanks !

No, I freely admit I was totally wrong. There is far more detail in it than I could have imagined just looking at pictures. If you're thinking about getting it do so.
