Looking at the weight I think they just put both in the same shipping box. The site says the fellowship set is only 1.3lbs so that makes sense to be both.

Weta Contract arrived today. Words cannot express how amazeballs it is. Gave it a read-through, then it's boxed up again until I get it framed.

I know it's still a long ways off but i wonder if Weta will be doing anything special for The Hobbit DVD special editions like they did with LOTR (The Argonath, Gollum, Minas Tirith)?

A veeeeeeeeery long way off! Surely we don't even know if there WILL be an extended edition, as PJ is surely going through editing the movie for cinemas now, so wouldn't know how much material he's got left over?

It's not as though greedy movie companies are going to OK another version of the movie before the theatrical is even in cinemas, and then accidentally post that information on a website only to soon hastily remove that fact and hope nobody noticed............ :monkey3

First, I know it's a looooooong way off. Just trying to make conversation considering that there's not a hell of a lot else going on in the LOTR section at the moment.:lol

Second, I never said "extended". I said "special" which could contain bonus features, making of etc... Either of which wasn't the point of my post. I was looking at my Argonath bookends this morning and was simply wondering if we had more cool stuff like that to look forward to.

Third, I'm very bored at the moment just sitting in my office watching 747's take off out of O'hare Intl. and waiting to go home.:lol

I can't picture how big that frame will get to cover the whole expanse of this item.

I can, since its pretty darn long and also folds out a bit wide as well, so not going to be a small frame.

Also, you can't really press it hard against the glass, given the wax holding the stitching in place.

Awesome, how long did it take for you to receive it

Took about seven days from NZ to Australia. Had to wait a couple of weeks though, I missed the first batch.

Pretty big. About 58x27 or something like that. I can't remember the exact measurements I had set aside for my particular part of wall space I'd like to cover. It'll be pricey too, I imagine, good thing christmas is coming up.

Yeah, don't want to screw that up. There will definitely be some discussions about just how expensive and unique this piece is to the framers.

Awesome yeah i ordered The Hobbit Chronicles art book so hopefully it doesn't take too long to get here to the US once it ships.

Thorin's Map Prop-Replica arrived today :rock

thanx to the Flamers who posted photos and helped me decide to get this gem :clap

Ohhhh..interesting! :) That's great news. Is this the Fellowship dio? I'm still waiting for mine to turn up despite receiving confirmation 2 weeks ago from Weta that it's been sent already. BigBunny, a fellow Aussie received hers already and she's from Western Australia.

hey there :wave i just saw your post. i mainly post on S&F because it's all about all things LOTR/Hobbit :wink1:

Yeah, I noticed. I'm a member there too and visit regularly but I post here most of the time. I really don't know what happened to my Fellowhip dio :impatient: It hasn't arrived still. This has never happened to me before. :( I contacted Weta and they advised me to contact them on Monday for replacement and claim with NZ Post if it didn't show up.

I just got the key, went to Micheals got a thick $15 shadowbox and put the Noble Contract in with it

I used to be a frame shop manager at Michaels, and I can tell you that anything can be framed! You are right though, it may cost a few bucks. It has been a few years since I worked there, but I know they continue to improve and add to the products available. As for the space between the glass and contract, they have spacers they place on the glass to hold it up and away from whatever you are framing. Any questions regarding the framing let me know. I really enjoyed the framing business, and sometimes wish I still did it, although with my own shop versus a big store like Michaels.

It's same size as the Weta ME parchment map...I'm gonna hand shade the sea and make the edges a little rougher...

OK, I got my Weta map ($30 version) and Erebor Key delivered today.
I'm gonna attempt to replicate this Noble display in some manner, either using a plaque or shadow-boxing it.

This Noble display has a much smaller map size compared to the actual Weta map, and their Erebor Key is rather shiny and doesn't appear to be as weathered as the Weta one. Those glaring factors are why I passed on the Noble set and am gonna build my own version with Weta parts.

So, time to get creative. :)
