Re: WGP's Doctor Who (new:companion questions)

Alright everyone,
We want your help choosing what expression/expressions you want to see on our Early S12/S13 Tom Baker heads, which our Indy artist Chu will be doing for us. You know we LOVE multiple expressions so it is no problem doing two if enough get the votes. Also, please feel free to show your own favorites to add to the list because finding GREAT still pics was surprisingly not easy for finding expressions for him. Thanks gang!

Thanks for posting more pics, Tek!
So far, my fav is #4 as well, just to throw in my vote.

For people who haven't read all of our threads, the S18 sculpt (which we are making the costume for) will have this expression:

I rather liked the sort of expression like my friend created on his sculpted bust. Sort of serious but thoughtful. Personally I'm rather fed up of the 'grinning like a looney' expressions.

Re: WGP's Doctor Who (Early Tom expression voting P.19!))

Thanks for all the continuing feedback everyone. So far, versions 2 and 4 seem the most popular (which also give us a hatted and an unhatted head version), but pics are still continuing to be posted as well. Keep it up!

After getting burned at two attempts to get K-9 printed for us at a discount and waiting nearly 6 months at each attempt for the printers to come through, we finally said screw it and have sent K-9 to one of our regular printers and are just paying regular price to get him done because the waiting has been frustrating and just ridiculous.

Material shopping is winding down now for our S18 Tom. Our good friend and fellow forum member Betomatalli will be helping us fabric print the scarf for us.

As with all long haired females, the question comes up: Will Romana II have sculpted hair or real hair? The difference in this is not only her final look and head articulation but the price. To do her correctly, particularly with her Destiny costume with her collar and scarf, I feel she needs to be made bald and wear a hand-made specifically tailored/styled wig and those will cost $70 per person.

If we sculpt her hair because it is long, it will likely only raise the price of the head $10-$15 but will impair her head movement and b a bit tricky because of her collar/scarf.

Also, we have made wigs before for our Batman Returns Selina Kyle and Poison Ivy and like them, but the wig method with Romana will also act as an experiment for what our eventual Leela will look like who has similar kind of styled hair, and Leela NEEDS real hair as I find the Leela I commissioned from Ada a few years back with sculpted hair annoying that her head is fixed because Leela needs to be able to kick butt.

If you guys are interested in Romana with a wigged head, I will have her made bald by Chu when he gets to her, order the proto wig to be made after that, and you guys can judge on if you like it or not before committing to buying a wig. I am interested in your thoughts on this. Thanks guys.

And to also re-iterate, I am looking to have their sonics made in metal to be classy. :)

Here is a quick tally of the votes so far with #2 in a very strong lead.
We will likely be making two heads.

Since this is just an interest list, why don't you put me down for both of the unhatted Toms based on the Tom Baker photos.

Although, to be perfectly honest, my real preferecene is for one with his mouth open a little bit like here

Just a thought on Romana's hair if you wanted to do sculpted hair but have room for her scarf why not do something like the enterbay Onimusha 3 protagonists head where the hair is removable and a little soft like stiff rubber and is held in place by friction kind of like a puzzle piece.

This might work as then the individual can remove the hair place the scarf how they wish and place the hair back afterwards.

As I said just a thought

Thank you for the suggestion, Kal! Because Romanas hair is significantly a lot longer than this examples and I also really don't want Romanas head limited in articulation, I don't think this is the solution (though it could be a great idea for others). At the same time, nobody else has written back with opinions or thoughts, so I thank you for your idea! :wave
