Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO THREAD (open interest list!)

I was just trying to figure out if there was something unique about his look that episode I wasn't remembering.

Right now one of our plans is to accompany things with Big Chief releases.

Ex- putting out other 4th Doctor characters so you will have some related characters and enemies available once their Tom is put out (Sarah Jane, K-9, Leela, Revenge Cybermen, and hopefully Sontarans depending on costume testing).

We also want to offer variant heads for some of their releases as well, like we just announced are going to do with Matt Smith over in our Nu-Who thread. If that goes well, we will do that for Tennant, but we definitely want to do that for Tom regardless.

Once we make a sculpt we don't mind doing variants. Our main Tom, our first Tom (which wouldn't be released until theirs is) would probably be earlier than Invasion of Time because Sarah will already be out by then and I don't think Leela and the Sontaran will be (guestimating).

Afterwards though, who knows?

That Cyberman will be awesome! I can't wait to get a deluxe version with both heads.

Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO THREAD (open interest list!)

Hey Rick. Have we heard anything about the Sara Jane outfit and heads yet? Can't wait to see that one in person.:yess:

I was told by my caster a box is being sent to me early next week with the first test casts of our Han Solo and Sarah for QC approval. As long as they looks good the caster will be good to go. So thats the good news on that.

The bad news is the Sarah Jane seamstress said she would have the proto done by Feb 28th and not only hasn't she contacted me, she hasn't returned either of my e-mails asking her what the new ETA is.

This is not only bad news for the HAND OF FEAR Sarah costume, this is bad because she was the seamstress who was inheriting the S18 Tom project from Billy B. to do after that was done after Billy completely bailed on us several months into the project without a word to us, gutting it and our plans, (and the PLANET OF EVIL Sarah costume he was supposed to be making us as well).

It's not that other tailors seamstess can't be found (though its hard finding higher skill level ones like for the S18 Tom costume), but there has been a 15 month wait on the S18 Tom, Sarah Jane, and Romana costumes as it is. Ugh! Hopefully she will get back to us though and hasn't abandoned the project nor run off with our deposit money (as others have done).

The good news is the HAND OF FEAR costume isn't particularly complicated to make, and I can re-print the Andy Panda material again I fabric printed if I need to.

In other updates, just to balance the updates out, the Ainley sculpt is on Revision 4 and should be done soon, and his Traken costume has been assigned to someone already to see if they can do it.

And all Romana's costume proto has been waiting on is her boots. For...four...months...

So thats where we are right now with everything. WGP will be making a S5 Matt Smith sculpt next month, as talked about in the Nu Who thread. Our Tom sonic screwdriver will be being printed soon. We were waiting till his costume is done, but if people can use it now, why not? And we are sending the final component of the SECOND DOCTOR ACCESSORY SET off to the casters- his sonic screwdriver holding hand, so we hope to be offering that set soon finally, (as well as the new SMILING Troughton head).

The sanded K-9 body is coming back to me from the UK for QC before sending it back to the caster, and the caster is supposed to be sending me the head, neck and collar to see for the first time as well, so K-9 is VERY close to being finished. In fact, once I have these parts I can get the dimensions I need to have Corrose make the K-9 decals for his collar and video screen.

More updates as there are more.
-Rick :)

Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO THREAD (open interest list!)

Awesome! I appreciate the updates. I can't wait to see that Anthony Ainsley(the 2nd best Master behind Roger Delgado, lol) and Leela sculpts. That really stinks to have people agree to do a job, take a deposit, and skip out. Unfortunately I've read a few horror stories of that happening a lot between just the 2 forums that I'm on. Sometimes people can really suck. It makes it hard to trust anybody. I glad that the projects are proceeding but that hurts the wallet in the short run. I hope those people are banned from what is,essentially, a trust based forum

I've lost a lot of money and time wasted just on Who projects over the years, man. I don't know between the two which pisses me off more. Unfortunately, the two go hand in hand. Gallifrey Base sculptor Neil Sims stole over $700 me and a few others who put in towards his making a 1:6 Revenge custom for us about 5 years ago, and that was a whole year of us waiting on the project after he had been paid (and even had started it as well before he ran off).

SSF tailor Vivisect stole $150 from me I had paid him towards Cybermen costumes for them then, who completely disappeared from SSF, then sculptor Chris Howes screwed everyone on SSF over (who was supposed to make Sarah and K-9 back then) by running off with tons of money and it also took everyone over a year as to realize realized he was just taking everyones deposits. He had started the Sarah back then too. This all happened in the same year and I was just so sick after all three events I just left 1:6 for about a year.

UPDATE- I am told the first five Sarah heads are shipping to me this week, so those who ordered already they will be shipping as soon as I have them in hand, (as long as they pass QC!). :panic:

That makes me ill just reading about it. I just don't understand what possess people to do that.

:thud::yess::blissyI sincerely hope they are QC OK!

Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO THREAD (open interest list!)

Just to throw this out there, we were thinking of making our S18 Tom and Smiling Troughton at tiny 6" figure size as replacement heads and were wondering if there was any interest in that sort of thing? We were thinking they'd be $15-$20? (because we are skeptical we could even sell 4, and you KNOW I am pimping this idea to get MY Trout figure a sweet alternate smiling head-laugh).

I guess for Trout it would be the old X-acto knife and glue to get him on, but Tom could probably be pop on and be swappable like the other Toms are since he was made that way.

I'd be interested in the S18 Tom definately.

That's awesome looking. I can't wait to get mine.:clap Is there any way to get the head made with and without necks? That is definitely the best Troughton so far guys!(and btw the others were already awesome).

Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO- PRINTED SMILING SECOND DOCTOR PICS UP!

the first head was one of my first digital portraits - it was great to revisit him and give him some more love :)

Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO- PRINTED SMILING SECOND DOCTOR PICS UP!

Your asking the wrong guy - this is Rick's field! though it really depends on demand I think

Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO- PRINTED SMILING SECOND DOCTOR PICS UP!

What do you guys think about doing a version with a neck and one with no neck?

Hi Dan,
There is really not enough demand right now for us to offer it both ways.
Doctor Who sales are always very modest compared to our other lines (though we aim to improve that) and though you can't tell in the pictures, this master wasn't made with a full neck because we knew it was going to be made neckless post-printing. It's not currently made wide enough to fit on a neck post, so to make him with a full width, properly sized necked we'd need to reprint.

Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO- PRINTED SMILING SECOND DOCTOR PICS UP!

That definitely makes sense. I can't wait to get this in and start on another Troughton. True classic Who goodness. Keep up the great work!

Re: WGP's CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO- PRINTED SMILING SECOND DOCTOR PICS UP!

k-9 is also nearing completion...

That K9 will be awesome. That was the only companion I cared to see when I was 8 or 9 years old watching Tom on PBS. I didn't appreciate his wonderful female companions until 13 or 14,lol. This will be amazing looking alongside the Tom Baker and Romana figures.

Rick. Please put me down for 5 of the Tom Baker Sonic Screwdrivers. Can't wait to get those as I'll actually be using them for my 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th Doctors. Yay.
