What are the chances of Hot Toys getting "The Hobbit" license?

Statue-wise, i'd bet we'll get all 13 dwarves :exactly:

After all of the begging, pleading and cajoling that we had to do to get a Gimli anything, I'm going to be some kind of PO'd if they do all 13 dwarves for The Hobbit!

Not wanting the entire traveling party made makes about as much sense as not wanting all of the fellowship members made. :dunno

I completely understand where you're coming from but I guess this is going to be one of those 2-camp deals - Camp 1 would buy all of the dwarves and Camp 2 will want particular ones.

For me, the Fellowship is a representation of 4 races (plus a wizard) of ME and that really appeals to me. It would be unlikely for me to want a group of 13 elves, 13 men or 13 hobbits. I think I would buy the individuals who stood out the most to me.

Based on a MQ cost of $225-$250, one would be looking at a cost of $2,925 to $3,250 (plus shipping) for the full dwarven party. There are a number of other characters I would rather put most of that $$ toward.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see what is done. I'm looking forward to the excitement and interest that this is all going to bring about!

Oh I'm sure there are two camps on the issue. Can't say I agree with the other but thats alright. As long as they make them and let folks who want them get them thats the right thing to do. Otherwise don't even bother.

It will be interesting to see how the marketing and production of items for The Hobbit goes.

didn't sideshow announce a few years ago that they already had the license?

I'd think it's impossible to have a license for something that at that time doesn't exist :lol

As for wondering if all 13 dwarves are made.... i think it'll be just like the LOTR days, when everything was selling. The hype and desire will all be there, and as long as the ES's aren't in the 9,000 range again, i can see people wanting a complete collection. They'll look so good together. Hell, even the 9,000 ES size stuff sold out in those days!

They probably said they'd be interested, but it didn't even have a green light. I don't know how early you can buy the rights to make something based on a film, but surely that'd be too early? :dunno

Who's gonna want 13 ____in Dwarf's at $150+ a pop?

C'mon man.

Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin!

One word...Smaug.

Don't worry. It'll never happen.

After a decade since the first film, we STILL haven't gotten a complete fellowship...

Josh, Do you honestly think we'll get a baker's dozen dwarves before getting the fellowship nine?

We've already gotten the Fellowship. They may not have all been in that movies attire but we got them. If you stay true to how the characters in both the books and movie acted/thought of each other they were the Fellowship until they reached the Grey Havens. As Gandalfs quote at the end of ROTK goes "Here at last, on the shores of the sea... comes the end of our Fellowship."

Thats how I approach the Fellowship, how I believe Tolkien wrote them, and how I believe Jackson translated that on screen.

That would be why I said saying they haven't done the Fellowship is untrue.

As far as doing the characters for The Hobbit. I have no doubts they will do them all. There isn't nearly as many characters in The Hobbit as LOTR plus the Dwarves I doubt will have multiple outfits that will cause anyone to say the Traveling Party hasn't been done.

I really don't see hot toys doing 13 dwarves because I don't see people buying 13 dwarves..

13 dwarves 12 inch scale is a helluva lot!

And I think this goes for any series that comes out of the hobbit licenses be it hot toys sideshow etc.. If ur buying hobbit stuff, berepared for incomplete lines.

Might make a good case for sticking with environments.

I'm in your camp.

Would love the 12 walkers, but not 13 dwarves.
