I have had Slumber's Fallout album for years now, some great songs on this as well..sadly can't find the song Fallout(my favorite) on Youtube.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they have been posted, but I just cant stop listening to that album.

I can't thank you enough for bringing Alcest to my attention. He is honestly one of my favorite artists now. Just wish I understood the lyrics.

I wouldn't call it a side project.

Their first release was pretty straight black metal, but 2/3 of the band left, leaving one member. His name is Neige. The two albums he made on his own are genius in my opinion. Both of them have elements of black metal (like blast beats). The latest one even has several songs with black metal style shrieking, but over all the music is very uplifting. One review I read called it "black metal for spring" whereas most black metal calls to mind winter. :emperor


Valfar would probably know more, but apparently, the non black metal elements are in the genre "shoegaze" which I had previously never heard of. Personally I think of Alcest as being post-black metal like another favorite of mine, Agalloch.

just an observation, we have gorgoroth's(former) gaahl with wardruna. chino moreno of deftones have team sleep...they may not be on the same genre just some side projects coming up with great ambient music, great projects to be honest.

Those songs are good, they have a dated feel too which i like.

I still listen to old Deftones the odd time, wonder if Chino is still on the cocaine.

I enjoyed both of those songs.

Not really much like Alcest or any of the shoegaze I've been checking out, but cool in there own way.



For some reason, I thought "shoegaze" would be quiet by nature, but it's actually that wall of sound characteristic that defines it. A lot of droning guitars, distortion, and other effects.
