Great line from a book I'm reading now:

"God grant me the SERENITY to accept what I cannot change, the TENACITY to change what I may, and the GOOD LUCK not to ____ up too often."

:lol That's pretty good.

I just started The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I'm way behind on reading that one. I hope it lives up to the hype.

I used to not be able to do this, but my problem is that I read too much Star Trek. If I stuck to one book at a time, I'd be reading Star Trek exclusively. So now I have a "during the day" book, and a nighttime book.

I used to read a lot of Star Trek novels but got out of it. Some of them are really good, but when you hit a bad one......man does that take forever to get through!

Can anybody here recommend a good Lincoln bio?

Answering my own question. I'm about 1/3 of the way through David Herbert Donald's enormous "Lincoln" and I think I can give it a recommendation. It's very thorough, but doesn't read like a school textbook.

If I'm not Lincoln'ed out by the time I'm finished with this, I'm gonna move on to "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I don't see what all the excitement was about.

Josh, would you mind giving me the order in which these books are best read?

I personally always start with The Hobbit and then go through LOTR and the appendices. This will be my first read through of The Children of Hurin which takes place I well before The Hobbit even. Its dealing with parts of Middle Earth that are under water by the time of The Hobbit.

Josh, would you mind giving me the order in which these books are best read?

If you trying to read most of Tolkien's lore, I would read it as Josh suggested:

1. The Hobbit
2. The LOTR trilogy plus the appendices
3. Children of Hurin
4. The Silmarillion
5. The Unfinished Tales

Just be aware that The Silmarillion and The Unfinished Tales are more like a history book than an actual novel. They can be very dry at times. Have fun.:)

I should have asked if she wanted more than what I suggested. I almost said but I wasn't sure. Thanks Carbo.

I just finished reading the first Mass Effect novel, called Revelation. A really awesome book, especially if you're a fan of the games! It gives you some more background info on certain characters from the games which is awesome!
A good story and a good read! :rock :rock :rock
