DM isn't in my top 10 favorite bands, but Violator probably is one of my top 10 favorite albums.Interesting pick. It's a great song, to be sure - but I always found it merely average for a DM song.
Which isn't an insult - DM is top 3 bands for me.

Clean is one of their most underrated songs, I think. For the longest time, I liked it but didn't think too much of it. But the first time I heard it with some proper bass... jeez.
Thank God someone mentioned this. I personally find Violator to be overrated, but Clean is my favorite single from it. ETS is pretty good too, albeit overplayed compared to the other gems in their catalog.
To the other DM fans here, what are your thoughts on Songs of Faith and Devotion? I personally think it's great, but never hear much talk.
My (real) pick:
I tuned out on them a bit as they got more and more experimental. They just did pop with a twist so, so well on The Bends and OKC. While I like a lot of their later output, those two albums are two of my favorites of all time. And Street Spirit will never fail to give me chills, no matter how many times I've heard it.
My site's name is based off one of their songs. It's a b-side from one of their Pablo Honey singles, which wasn't one of their best periods. But I like the song, despite not loving it - I just used it on a whim when buying the domain, and have been sort of stuck with it ever since.

I think it really deserves whatever hype it has associated with it. I was personally into it when I was 13 or 14 years old, and no one else in my school would have had the foggiest idea who they were, but it became one of my very favorite albums, and remains that way to this day. And it's more than just a collection of really good songs. It is the ebb and flow of the album. I would put it up there with Revolver, Synchronicity, Pet Sounds, Thriller, Aja, or whatever other pop album you want to think of as an all-time great.I personally find Violator to be overrated

Well I don't know what is or isn't "goth," but the Cure put out some damn fine music, and they're as closely identified with that sub-culture as anything, right? Then, you could probably lump the Joy Division, Bauhaus, Siouxie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, even the Pixies into that same classification, and it doesn't make their music any less good to me. Some of these bands were dark and brooding, but as another broody New Wave-y guy once asked--so what? What ticks me off is how so many think DM is goth.

To list my favorite songs would take forever. I've been exposed to over 100 years of music growing up so I appreciate all kinds and forms. I love it all!
