This is just a baseless rumor, why all the up roar when nothing has been set in stone yet...this will never happen, it is just some stupid internet gossip. People need to calm down and wait for something official before getting out the pitch forks and torches. :monkey4:monkey4:monkey4

When you get right down to it, an actor in that awful Spike Lee movie was merely lobbying for Will to get the role.

Although it is oddly fun to panic and imagine how horrible the project could be...

wow, i can't believe this thread has gone on for this long, what happens when america has it's first african american president, oops looks like that might happen.

See you're trying to make it about race.

Not cool. :emperor

ah what ever. i read the first post last week, when this thread started and i just read the last thread, and really i couldn't give a hoot one way or the other. just don't think this thread would of gone on this long if, say sylvester stalone would of been rumored to be playing cap. do you? everyone would of just laugh, and say he's to old (which is discrimination) and went on their merry way.

everything we do and say on a daily basis is discriminating towards someones age, wieght, race, hair color, clothes. virtually anything can be taken the wrong way by someone somewhere. it's ok to judge someone by how they dress, or how much they eat, but heaven forbid anyone says anything politically incorrect about a rumored actor that may or may not be up for a role of an american icon. respond or not, i don't care. to much time has been given to this already.
imo

Couldn't agree more.
Casting is all about choosing the person that comes closer to the character, a person that will fit into the character as we know it, and its also all about discriminating against those that dont, if you choose to see it that way.
Take the IM movie for example. Do you think they even looked at blonde actors? Of course not. IM is not blonde. Do you think they looked at asian actors? Of course not. IM is not asian.
And Captain America is not black. And he is not a midget neither. So in the same way that we are not looking at midgets who could possibly play Cap, in the same way we are not looking at black actors. Its not racist. What would be racist is to give this part to a black actor.
I'd be interested to see what the reaction would be if Falcon was given to a white actor...
These are historic figures. You can't change their identity that way. If you do so then you are merely creating a spin-off. And you are changing the character to fit the actor, instead of the other way around.
Would it make sense to cast Hitler as a black man?

I believe the word you were looking for is then not than.

And they cast Sam Jackson because in the Ultimates General Nick Fury is drawn to look like Sam Jackson. Personally I would rather see an Ultimate Nick Fury played by him than a 616 Nick Fury by David Hasselhoff.

I think Agent made a solid statement, clear and concise.

Grammar Goon!

edit:

Ultimates goon!!!
