exactly! the nazi's believed the perfect man was 6' 0" blonde hair blue eyes!
for their Elite Super Soldiers! So a specific race of Man was chosen for their Eugenetics experiment
So Steve Rodgers (in the comics) was the perfect specimen.....of course Red Skull was the failure

Excatly! It makes perfect sense that the Nazi's biggest foe was a guy that was their ideal man. It shows just how wrong they were. Sure a black guy would work too, but it just doesn't have the same impact as their ideal man fighting againts them.

So let's say Will Smith gets made up like a white blue eyed blondie does he then make a good choice for Captain America?

I thought Michael Clarke Duncan was a good choice to portray Kingpin. He looked the part and did a good job.

But no way should Will Smith be Captain American. Sorry, he has to be a white guy.

I'm waiting for the Good Times movie with a white cast.

Michael Clarke Duncan looked the part? Like a black Kojak???? Oh, wait, that's been done. :D Kingpin should have been CG. NO ONE is as big as the Kingpin.

Iconic is all relative. All it takes is a bit of time and peoples views change. Captain America is a relatively small icon. Only a select group know anything about him and even a smaller group cares. All it took was a 100 year or so for the church to make Jesus into a white man. Given the relative importance between Captain America and Jesus hollywood should be able to change people's view in a few months. :D

Look how much the Dark Knight made! That must mean Christian Bale is the most popular actor ever behind Leonardo Decaprio, since only Titanic has made more money than Batman. There is no logic in your argument. $ doesn't always equal popularity.

Yes it does. And for a while Leo WAS the most popular. Heath Ledger is freakin popular now. Dead or not. Yes, money does, in a way, equal popularity. The ____ Movies (Epic movie, Date movie....ect) were very popular back in 04-06, thats why they made the money they did....only recently people began realizing what horrid pieces of crap they really are....

I like how people get more upset that a black American might play CA but people weren't upset with a white Euro with the role.

It's not a racial issue. A white Euro could SOUND like and LOOk like Steve Rogers from the comic books! A black man cannot look like Steve Rogers from the comic books!

It would kinda be like ordering a PF hulk on Ebay and getting the PF Thing. They are the same basic shape, same basic size, made from the same material and most definately the same on the outside....but you WANTED the big green guy! Now if they has sent me the Hulk PF that had shipped from the Euro wharehouse I wouldnt have any issues at all! :D

Captain America was a clearly propagandistic icon of last century's America, and he stood for what Americans idealised... white... blonde... muscles... blue eyes. Everything about him is there for a reason. Maybe today America doesn't feel very comfortable with what they idealised back then (and still do IMO), but that doesn't give them license to go back and change history.
Instead of changing Cap to fit the political correctness frenzy of today, they should create new black superheros. And I don't mean the black equivalent of Cap... (Blacktain America or whatever)... I mean new superheros with new powers, and morals that reflect the black community.
Captain America was what the white people saw as the ideal perfect white man, it was the icon that they would gladly like to be represented by.
The black community needs to create its own iconic representatives.

I can already hear some people say "yea, but apart from the looks, Cap's qualities, like being just, and having a strong moral code, and helping others, are qualities that represent the iconic human being of many people regardless of what colour they are"
sure. i agree. but cap is a historic figure. he is social commentary of the times that he was created.. making him black all of a sudden wipes out that entire history and therefore the identity of the character. he is no longer captain america...

agreed, no one would cast a black/asian/hispanic actor to play a white historic figure. (lincoln, clinton, bush, whoever.) Even though cap is a fictional character, he's been around for more than 50 years as a white dude, no reason to change that.

you guys are going to have a Black president, maybe its time for a Black Capt.America...:lol
