sorry, Mccain is the chosen puppet for this election...watch and see!

NOOO, dear GOD nooooo! i'm telling ya..I'm almost certain that Red Skull is pulling McCains strings! Either that or Republicans suffer from a sever lack of logic.

"Planes you say? In the World Trade center you say? A terrorist organization bent on the destruction of America you say? This terrorist group is a sepratist organization with no allegance to any one country you say? Quick....ATTACK IRAQ!"

"But sir, we don't have a reason...."

"Brrrring..Brrrrrring...Oh that was my phone just now...Iraq has Nuclear weapons"

"Sir...you made those sounds with your mouth ....and spoke into your hand"

Dammit, now look what you did Shai. Is no thread safe from political partisanship?

funny thing is.. if Obama wins... none of us will be buying toys/collectables anymore. All that money has to go to taxes!

The problem I have with Will Smith in the role of Captain America isn't that he's black. ( I actually like Will Smith as an actor )

The problem I have is his strength is action/comedy. He's kind of a goofy character. Has a goofy demeanor. Even in his more serious roles ( I am Legend / Enemy Of The State / Six Degrees of Separation ) you can see this in his characterization.

Captain America doesn't strike me as a tongue in cheek kind of subject or storyline.

Some comic properties make good films. Spiderman/Batman/XMen/Blade are good examples. The characters are easy to relate to at a very human level. Some stories like Hulk, Fantastic Four and Captain America, I think it's much harder to make the characters interesting and easy for the audiences to connect with.

I think Will Smith, if it's true, is bad for Captain America and Captain America would be bad for Smith's career. And that has nothing to do with color.

GG

Hmmm...I am a Will Smith Fan and I was thinking he would make a good Cap. But this is a very good point. It is one of the things I like about Will Smith's acting, but it is true that Cap has no sense of humor.

Edit - And this is the first GOOD argument to Will Smith playing Cap.

Theres been plenty of good arguments in this thread as to why he shouldn't be Cap. What I haven't heard are arguments as to why he would be a good Cap, other than 'I think it'd work' and 'I wouldn't have a problem with it'.

I'd also like to add that I don't think just any white guy could do the role either. I remember back before the train wreck dtv Captain America was made, Schwarzenegger was either up for the part, or they were looking at him for it. And that would have been just as bad.

There are few Black comic book super heroes that WILL SMITH can tackle ... "THE BLACK PANTHER" maybe "LUKE CAGE" somebody mentioned "The Falcon". Hollywood needs to ^^^^ing leave comics the way JACK KIRBY and STAN LEE wrote and drew them. If the characters were White in the comics than get a White actor to play the role. For God sake if SPIKE ^^^^ing LEE wants more BlACKS in movies than let him write a direct the next Black superhero movie. Is it White guilt in Hollywood that they change the race of a character like ALICIA MASTERS in the FANTASTIC FOUR from White to Black? And giving Sam Jackson the role of Nick Fury? IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACISM PEOPLE!! Keep it like it was written and drawn and you leave the race card out of the equation. I grew up with these comics and want to see them on the big screen as I saw them in the comics. Sorry for the rant I guess you can go ahead and lock the thread now.

I believe the word you were looking for is then not than.

And they cast Sam Jackson because in the Ultimates General Nick Fury is drawn to look like Sam Jackson. Personally I would rather see an Ultimate Nick Fury played by him than a 616 Nick Fury by David Hasselhoff.

UH , thanks for the grammar lesson. Please , when I think of NICK FURY the only thing further from my thoughts other than DAVID HASSELHOFF is freakin SAM JACKSON. I am just getting sick of the over saturation of SAM JACKSON in action every action movie. :banghead

Did anyone read The THRUTH? RED White and Black? It tells the story of how the government experimented the super soldier formula on a Black soldier before Steve Rodgers

OK , that's all fine and good but it still does not change the fact that JACK KIRBY and STAN LEE wrote and drew CAPTAIN AMERICA from the conception as a White man. Accept it. I guess they could have titled it "Captain African American":lol Ok , that's pushing it. We can just save that title for "OBAMA"
