I have a co-worker who I was talking about comics the other day. He tells me that he buy comics to read them and could care less about the "Collectability" of them. He said he would never buy exclusive or signed comics. Which brings up this question, do you buy comics to read them or do you buy them for the "collectible" aspect. Most of mine I have read, but I have some Stan Lee signed comics:rock thats definately put away as well as other comics that I consider exclusive...

Well the CGC has managed to severely drop the value of non-CGC comics---so if you're going to put them away for a rainy day you almost have to go through the pain of getting them graded, or dropping an a#$load of cash to buy them already graded.

I stopped buying single issues years ago. Now I just wait for the TPB to hit the shelves.

I only care about collecting a few series but I mostly buy to read. The comics coming out now won't be making me a fortune 40 years from now

To this day I still have yet to buy a cgc graded comic. Your right though I was thinking of sending some stuff in but it would be a pain, its almost better just to buy em graded...

Yeah I bought a few already-graded comics several years ago. It cost me a small fortune but I considered it an "investment"...and they actually have paid off quite nicely judging by what they're going for on ebay.

However I have several rare non-graded issues that I'll never have graded unless I hit a comic show. I'm not real keen on shipping my comics off w/out the guarantee of getting the same one returned to me graded.

That's probably paranoia...but it seems risky.

I don't blame you man, if I had rare stuff like that I would be the same way. The stan lee stuff I have comes with coa's, so Im not sure it would be wise to get those graded. I've thought about it but theres no room for the coa see what I mean...

The whole grading of sports cards and comics has killed both of the collectibility (new word!) for me. Now I buy the occasional comic just to read. Since I no longer collect comics, I buy them in graphic novel form. Take up less room and are cheaper this way. Well, for the most part.

I only buy comics for refrence art for my sculpting and painting. I don't bother buying mint or anything close to it because they get kinda beat up while flipping through the pages and pinning them up.
I do have my comics from my childhood all bagged and boarded but, I don't care for their value. Especially since the only ones that are in mint condition are all my early Image comics and a few 90's Marvel comics. My Batman comics from when I was really young aren't in very good condition.

I myself am thinking about getting into the novel scene. Everything is there, you dont have to wait month to month to read the story. Plus you dont have to worry too much about beating up the pages when reading them

Bag them, board them, box them, and alphabetically and numerically store them in white long boxes like any good fanboy. I know they are not, and never will be, worth jack crap. But anything I am going to waste $30-45 a week on is going to be saved and put back for my kids to enjoy as I have. they are too dang expensive to throw out or give away. Basically I treat them the same way I do dvds or anything I am going to spend my money on. I take care of them.

All my comics are baged boarded and boxed. I dont really worry about the collectability but I still want them in good condition so I can read them. I own one signed comic (Supergirl issue 1 signed by Micheal Turner) and 1 CGC graded comic also Supergirl issue 1. beyond that dont care for grading or signed comics.

I buy golden age bags and bag my comics as a whole story in one bag.

The silver age I keep bagged and boarded by itself, but not new stuff.

i havent bought a comic for months. trying to give it up. but i used to buy the single issues cuz i like the covers. i would read them once and then bag/board them. i dont expect to make money off of them but i still like to keep them crisp cuz they are like art to me. my favorite collection i have is the ultimate spiderman run from bendis and bagley. about 110 issues all bagged and boarded. i think i stopped after bagley quit drawing them.

I keep em in storage. Quit a couple years ago. I only buy trade paper backs of popular stories or ones im interested in now

I bag and board them and put them in longboxes. Most of the stuff I keep is stuff I really enjoyed and will read again/think the kids will enjoy at some point/ or are valuable/rare. I've only sent one comic in to be graded...a Giant X-men annual 1. I love the cover art and enjoy reading the real issues in their original form, though I own many tbs's and graphic novels as well. The stuff i don't feel I need to hang onto I donate.

I sold all my old Marvel comics ever since the digital collections popped up on DVD. I collected through Civil War but have not bought any since. I have a few key issues graded and even have one that makes a nice addition to my Sideshow stuff:
