Hey, can't remember if I've posted in this thread before!
I'm currently (March 3 2006) a student in my 2nd last month of a 3 year college program for technical studies (the program name is called Computer Programmer Analyst ).
I've had employment in the summers, but in the study periods I've been too consumed with studies to maintain a job.
During the summers I've done what I love to do very much- yard maintenance. I like manual, physical labour, outdoors in the summer. It's a great place to work (in nature!) blah blah blah. It pays very poorly, but to be outside in the sunshine for 10 hours a day, cutting lawns, racing your buddies on ride-on lawnmowers over large fields and cutting fun patterns, chasing squirrels and ducking swifts that fly around your head, crashing your boss's truck into another truck (oh crap shouldn't have mentioned that)... it's such a rewarding experience for a period of time in life.
Before college, I had a job that kept me happy but tired... midnight shift in a nice factory with a very limited midnight staff (so people were more relaxed). My financial situation would be a lot more happy if I was still there... I wouldn't have the student and SSW debt. But people keep reminding me that after this college is up, I hopefully will notice a difference in pay. Hopefully....
After college, I am aiming to get a job in one of three locations: Peterborough, Cobourg, or the Greater Toronto Area. These three cities are in Ontario, Canada.
One other place may be in Newfoundland, or I may head arbitrarily NORTH to the Yukon or NorthWest Territories or Alaska or Nunavit. Companies there pay boatloads of money. But that depends on my family (note: MY .. not my parent's) family situation. A friend of mine just got married recently and he AND his wife have moved to Yellowknife I think it was. It's the capitol of the NW Territory. I wouldn't mind going to Alert, for the experience.
Or I may just head to the USA or out of north america entirely.
All this in the name of either a job in my field (make my education worth its investment) or in another specific field that I'm personally interested in.
Then I'll hopefully have enough to afford a nice ssw cave troll giveaway or something. heh Wouldn't that be nice?
