Angels and Demons - Everyone said it was boring and too taky, but I thoght that it was done really well, and I found Ewan McGreggor's chracter to be very compelling. However I am mad that they changed the ending from the much superior one found in the book.

Sometimes that's a good way of keeping the book worth reading.

In the early 40's, a group of Italian filmmakers petitioned the Mussolini regime to make a movie (Noi Vivi) based on a novel that they pitched as anti-Communist. Since the Fascists and the Soviets were mortal enemies, the production was approved. When it finally shown, it was immediately banned because the novel, though set in Russia, was written against all forms of socialist totalitarianism.

They changed the ending to make it more inspiring to those in Europe living under the totalitarians' boot. The original ending had been brutally tragic so as to show the true nature of those governments, but as a film, it would better serve its intended audiences by not giving them further cause for despair.

The long term effect, however, made it so that if a reader wanted to get the full impact of the novel, having seen the movie would not have spoiled it.

Tron/Tron Legacy,Judge Dredd,The Keep,Mortal Kombat,Hot Rod oh man the list goes on and on.

I like them too. Never saw the one in Japan though and don't really want to. Different characters and has nothing to do with the rest of the story.

Actually Tokyo Drift was pretty good. Definately give it a viewing. You'll see a surprise cameo at the end that ties this movie in with Fast and Furious (4th installment) and the upcoming Fast Five. The character Han (who was in Tokyo Drift) was in the 4th movie and will be in the 5th as well. Actually Fast Five brings back a bunch of characters from all of the F&F Films to tie them in together.

Don't know if it's been said, but Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze rocks!! Plus, the bad guy's GF (Julie Michaels) typified the classic 80s blonde look. She does that dance for Dalton- that was hot.

Gonna add The Book of Eli to my list. Alot of people especially critics seemed to hate this movie nut I found myself loving this movie much more than I thought I would.

The Punisher (2004)

Tom Jane's portrayal of Castle was excellent, and frankly, between this and The Mist, I think the man is painfully underrated. The revenge plots, the musical score, the fight with the Russian, and the practical stunts over CGI bs made this film better than most people give it credit for. I'm baffled by anyone who prefers that cartoony 'War Zone' turd over this film.

Also, anyone who listed AVP:R in this thread deserves a swift cockpunch.

I don't recall it being hated.

I also prefer the 2004 to War Zone in many ways. I wish we could've gotten all of the things you listed paired with the gritty, graphic violence we got in War Zone. That would've been the perfect Punisher movie IMO.

~~I'm glad I have a cup because I enjoy AVP:R. Just good fun rooting for the Aliens and Wolf killing everything.
