I hate watching rape scenes and that's why I've never watched Clockwork, scenes like that make me so angry. I agree that what makes rape worse than a straight death scene is the aftermath of it. A lot of women commit suicide after rape as they are unable to cope.

Back OT and I will probably get a lot of abuse for this :lol but Terminator 2 *ducks* I love movie in general but I can't abide Furlong and his annoying squeaky voice, he really spoils that movie for me.

I think you're wrong. But whatever. I have that American Psycho figure. Patrick Batemen is a great character. Doesn't mean I have to agree with what he does, but he was just a funny, fun interesting character. Bale knocked that out of the park.

Same with Alex DeLarge. He was a well rounded, well developed character that brought some great points about human beings, and all that.

What about The Joker? Why do people buy Heath Ledger's twisted evil nasty character? Because he's awesome. He created a great character.

No one dresses up like any of these people, or buy's their products because they agree with what they do, or their opinions, but because they are interesting characters.

Why is that so hard to grasp? :lol

well see you didn't understand my post, When I said American Psycho was worst I didnt mean it was a worst movie, I meant the violence is worst, the violence against women is worst than Clockwork orange, more brutal, not that is a bad movie.

I Like both movies, I like Bale's acting a lot, is a good movie, a good critique on the society of that time, and just because someone likes it doesn't make it a horrible person,
same with Clockwork Orange, I think is a good movie, another Great view and critique on violence, both are good movies, the violence is really bad, but I like both of them, not because of what the characters do to women, but the story is being told, the observation of violence and how people become desensitised
just because someone likes those movies, doesn't mean they agree with the actions, or want to see women being raped, which is what I see some people missing here.

That Said, I do still find it extremely weird that women dress as Alex, seriously What the F#####, women dressing as a rapist.
and that's what my other post was trying to say

a lot of posts here say that clock work orange is a sick movie and people that watch it and like it are sick,
yet the movie is old, the violence is nothing compared to movies of today like I Spit on Your Grave remake (that has a gross and gratuitous rape scene, now THATs bad), and like, even the Simpsons dressed bart as Alex, I guess the point is, Clockwork Orange has become part of pop culture and of that time period when it was released, it has been embraced by fans and by the culture, saying the movie is sick and their fans are sick at this point is kinda irrelevant, and silly, since Alex is such a pop culture Icon now.

The Hunger Games
Mamma Mia!
Citizen Kane (I usually like classic movies but I just fell asleep to this one..)

How do you hate The Hunger Games? I mean someone might not find it great or living up the hype, but hate?

The Hunger Games
Slumdog Millionaire
A Clockwork Orange

All of those for me too. I never saw The Hunger Games, never read the book, because at first glance it just gives me a vibe of the "Twilight Saga". Plus the name sounds ridiculous... why the "hunger" in Hunger Games. Aren't "hunger games" like hot dog eating contests?

If it wasn't so hyped up perhaps I wouldn't say I hate it. But I guess BECAUSE it is so hyped up, and is making truckloads of money for something so mediocre, I think I do actually hate it :lol

I thought the story was extremely weak, with no real plot development. Also, the violence (yes mostly implied and not shown) was highly inappropriate for the core tween audience - I still don't think it's a PG-13 category film.

Similar story with Slumdog Millionaire - had the movie not won all the awards/oscars/critical acclaim, perhaps I would find it allright. The amount of critical acclaim it received is pretty sickening for such a average Bollywood crossover film.

As for some movies (that I've actually seen) that I hate:

-Battlestar Galactica
-Dune
-Pulp Fiction (in fact, everything by Quentin Tarantino, with the great exception of Inglorious Basterds - that film was a masterpiece)
-Fargo
-The Big Lebowski

I hate The Hunger Games because I just do. Even without providing any sort of real justification, that's good enough reason for me :lecture.

Yeah I couldn't get through Citizen Kane either

actually that's another one that makes me scratch my head, Citizen Cane is considered by many the best movie ever made, ever, in the history of film, The movie is okay, don't get me wrong. But, I didn't like it, it was so bland to me, i get whats important about it, its certainly not the best movie ever made in history...

No...they're dressing as a film character.

I mean, why not stop allowing costumes all together then....

Dress up like Freddy? You're a nasty child killer.

Dress up like Jason? Retarded redneck murderer of children.

ect...

Women can do whatever they want to do. They've seen the movie, they know what the character does. But the character and the film are interesting to them, and they want to pay tribute to that.

well yeah, that's the point I was trying to make, with a litle sarcasm, Like I said, Alex has become Pop Culture Icon,
saying that people that like that movie are disturbed is kinda stupid, because of the women dressing up, I DO think is weird, but I do not think those women are sick and disturbing, the character of Alex is so big and known that people dont even care about the rape in the movies anymore
