Sorry if I didn't say it clearly, it was added to the UK version upon initial publication to appease censors. Years later it was added to the U.S. version. Kubrick chose to adapt the U.S. version and Burgess was unhappy that he had to add it to the UK version. Why it was later added to the US version, I dont know, other than a money grabbing ploy.

The way it was presented when I read it was that they included it for historical purposes. The introduction also included a long essay on Burgess's affinity for James Joyce, so academic pomp seems more likely than a strict profit motive.

Pretty Woman. Glamorizing the sh***y life of a prostitute.

It's La Traviata with a happy ending, which makes it stupid.

I know what you were gonna say, and I agree, she could fit an adult sized hamster in there.

A chinchilla, perhaps?

Bladerunner - So boring. Tried a few times and can't finish it.
2001 - See above
Lincoln - Makes the other 2 above seem exciting

Honourable mention to The Hobbit - Didn't hate it, but it was boring cheesy, and laughable at times.

All of the Lord of the Rings movie...I honestly tried to watch them, the only one I made it through was the first one. too long and too boring in my opinion....

I don't really hate any films to be honest but I never got into Blade Runner, i watched it i think twice but it never clicked for me

I'm not much of a fan of Superman 2, Zod was cool but the giving up of his powers and the incredibly weak fights were dissapointing. i could watch 3 and even 4 more often than that

reproducing coupled with a stressful job has brought me to the same place. I've reduced my picking apart of movies by about 75% these days from what it used to be.
Id compare it to a kiddie roller coaster ride. Was it exciting? No. But it was better than standing still doing nothing.... :monkey1

Superman 2 suffered from the studio and Salkinds interfering with Donner.

The original ending of S2 had Ursa break Lois's neck and killing her (Donner never got to film this). Superman fights and defeats the villains, then flies around the world and turns back time, bringing Lois back to life.

WB and the Salkinds liked the Lois death and world spinning backwards story-point and insisted Puzo and Donner add it to pt.1. Donner fought them an the change and ultimately led to him losing his job as director on pt.2

I hadn't heard that! Makes alot more sense for him to use that trump card there than at the end of the first. Certainly would have made for a more climactic ending. Thanks for the info, that was cool!

Too bad I missed the whole A Clockwork Orange discussion, excellent film, but one thing people seem to miss the point on is that the violence Alex commits is supposed to be disturbing and shocking. It's not a film for the squeamish, and if it made you cringe, or worse, than Kubrick succeeded. You werent supposed to enjoy the violence, it was a commentary on where society was heading.

Speaking of A Clockwork Orange, I saw an interview tonight that was talking about Kubrick and how he thought he overdid the violence and had it banned in the UK himself! Wow, I was shocked to hear that.
