$2,782,275,172 says that large majority of people love Avatar.
And $836,303,693 worth liked Transformers 2.

Outside of this forum, I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Avatar. The general public ate the **** up, as you can see by the BO.

I haven't heard a bad thing about Dredd, and that bombed big time, same with X-Men First Class, though that didn't bomb it just didn't do huge numbers.

So box office numbers don't equal like or dislike

wrong...Big Box office numbers means most of the masses liked the film...period...no way anyone could dispute that other wise no way you would get close to those 1/2 billion dollars or more numbers...no way...

No I like the way EVILFACE said it better.

Just because a person paid to see a film or buy a game or buy a book doesn't mean they loved it. That's the same no matter how many people paid out.

People will often go to see a film which everyone says is rubbish just to see for themselves if thats true.

Numbers would mean something if it was a system where people volunteerily paid afterwords on the basis if they felt it was worth the price of admission.

People pay money to see a film whether the end result is liking the film or not, so just because they paid money to see it doesn't mean they liked the film.

Bug Box Office Numbers just mean more people were interested in the subject matter than another film. Whether the masses liked it or nit is based on reviews and ratings not the amount of people who paid to see it.

These two threads prove that, many people hate certain high grossing movies but love movies that bombed

Remember that movie buffs (us) are quite different from the general public. The general public tend to not be nearly as critical as us, and eat crap up that is quite frankly, crap. It's why Hollywood keep making movies like Resident Evil, Underworld, Saw, Paranormal Activity, I just moved into a new house and had no idea it is haunted, Avatar 2 and 3, and Twilight.

So, box office numbers speak directly to people's love for movies (the general public). Given that they are the majority, if they didn't like it, it wouldn't make so much money.

Never finished Alien.

Wasn't blown away by Predator.

Don't care to ever rewatch Titanic.

Hated Avatar more than any other big budget Hollywood action flick that I can think of.

Kill Bill makes me never wanna bother with Terantino again.

The new Star Trek didn't sit well with me but I am willing to rewatch it since these trailers for the sequel seem intriguing.

The Help and Les Miserables were two I went to see with the wife I stared at the screen blankly the whole time. Not bad movies but I didn't care for what they were about.

When a movie makes almost 3 billion dollars, it is liked. For a movie, that is a lot of money. It crushed a very well liked The Dark Knight. Was it a average movie? Story wise yea, but it looked fantastic in the theater.

First Class? It was a been there done that comic book movie with nothing new or extraordinary.

Can't believe I forgot Blade Runner. Saw it once. Hated it. Tried it again more recently. Turned it off.
