I have just seen the trailer to Four Christmases and it does not look that good so I was wondering what's the best.
I think the remake of a miracle on 34th street is a great Christmas movie and better than the original.
I love Elf and a Nightmare before Christmas. I tried to do a poll but I ran out of time.

You really think the remake of "Miracle..." is not only good, but better than the original? Whoa.

Best Christmas films:

1. It's A Wonderful Life
2. A Miracle on 34th Street (the 1947 original)
3. A Christmas Story
4. Christmas Vacation
5. A Christmas Carol (1951)
6. White Christmas
7. Babes In Toyland
8. Scrooged

Not technically "Christmas" movies, but I'd count them:

9. Die Hard
10. The Ref

Someone will also surely say Home Alone, but I hate those ^^^^ing movies with a passion. The Polar Express has a chance to crack the list someday if it holds up. Elf has a shot, too. I love Bad Santa, but it doesn't have the spirit of a true Christmas film to me. And I've always personally considered A Nightmare Before Christmas more of a Halloween movie.

A Christmas Story is a modern-day classic. Other than that, there are all the animated/stop-motion holiday classics like a Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, etc...

Hmmm, does Die Hard qualify?

Depends on what you're looking for in a Christmas movie. As far as comedic Christmas movies, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is and likely will be my all time favorite Christmas movie. No matter how many times I see it, i laugh my ass off every time and I quote it all the time. My company hired a new employee named Russ recently, we always make Griswald jokes now, "Can't see the lines can you Russ?" :lol

Rudolph (Hey it's a classic!)
A Christmas Story
Christmas Vacation
Lethal Weapon (It was at least Christmas time.:lecture)

A Christmas Story
A Christmas Story
A Christmas Story
A (Oh you get the point.....)

And pretty much everything else on Irish Jedi's list.

You want to know a very guilty pleasure I have? Every Holiday season, usually late at night on December 23rd (never on Christmas Eve or Christmas itself) I watch SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT. It's a tradition I've carried on for about 15 straight years now. :monkey3

"Christmas Eve is the scariest damn night of the year!... If you see Santa Claus, you better run boy! You better run for your life!!!!"

And I also watch as much of the A CHRISTMAS STORY marathon as I can. That film never gets old at all and in encapsulates Christmas perfectly.

Elf became an instant classic in my house.
Wife watches it about 3 times every Christmas season now ... :monkey1

I know A Christmas story is very popular in America. When I lived over there I remember one station repeated it all day. Over here in the UK most people have never heard of it.
With a miracle on 34th street remake the part with little deaf girl gets me every time. I also like National Lampoon's Christmas vacation.

Scrooged
Love Actually
Home Alone 1&2

I'm really not much for the traditional Christmas movies and I especially despise Christmas Story.

My wife loves Love Actually and watches it evey Christmas.
The first Santa Clause was pretty good.
l always watch Lord of the rings at Christmas. Not christmas movies I know, but it's become a tradition in my house.

'It's a Wonderful Life' is a good choice for # 1.

I also like 'A Christmas Story', 'Scrooge', 'A Charlie Brown Christmas', more...

Well, Charlie Brown, Rudolf, Frosty and all of the other classic Rankin/Bass Christmas specials are all immortal as well. I just classify them more as TV Shows than movies.

Also a Christmas classic in my house: Emmit Otter's Jug Band Christmas. :rock

They used to show Wizard of Oz around Christmas time every year but they switched to Christmas Story.

I love Christmas Story, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Christmas Vacation, Elf. I don't care much for the mushier stuff anymore.

They still show WIZARD OF OZ on some channels on Christmas, but it's also become somewhat of a Thanksgiving tradition now as well.

end up watching cartoons all day with stuff like this ...
