not a Marvel...but Diablo is the next grail! Didn't ya see the detail and the amount of work behind that? Just amazing.

As for Marvel...nothing amazing yet. When it comes out, then we will know. Thor the next grail? no way... a grail should be something that has a WOW factor. The Iron Spiderman has potential...but doesn't have the complete WOW factor.

:confused::confused: Sir, please proceed to SLOWLY put down the crack pipe.....:lol:lol:lol

How can you think the Thor DOESN'T have ANY "wow" factor??? Detailed base, HUGE statue size (30"), awesome pose, the list goes on..... ;) Grail or not, this one is a great piece :D

hahaha

being huge doesn't put it in a WOW factor to me. Don't get me wrong, Thor is very nice, but it's not like a must have statue. He's like any other statue...Captain America, etc.

I thought we're talking about grail statue? Not every statues should be considered grail if you know what I mean... I might as well list every single Sideshow statues as holy grail because all of them are well detailed, awesome pose, etc too :)

What people are referring to as "grails" cannot be prepredicted. Doom sat around on Sideshow's shelves for a while. The Iron Man Comiquette Exclusive could be had rather affordably on the secondary market for a long time. The Green Hulk was found under retail for months after initial release and so on and so on.

The agreed upon Marvel Grails are:

Iron Man Exclusive Comiquette
Doctor Doom Premium Format Exclusive
X-Men vs. Sentinel #1 Exclusive
Grey Hulk Premium Format Exclusive

What makes these even more interesting and worthy of those titles is that the "regular" releases have also obtained that status to a degree because they are easier to come by. The Green Hulk in an interesting twist has commanded at times more than the Grey.

If you watch the trends of those pieces none of them were prepredicted save maybe the Grey Hulk which was thrown up in a NL without notice and sold out amazingly fast.

For a piece to be considered a grail, the edition sizes must be low, the piece itself must be substantial and last but most importantly collectors have to have a consensus that their collections are not complete without them.

With so many piece coming out in so many different formats I guarantee the next "grail" will one that slips by seemingly unnoticed and people scramble back to try and obtain it via the secondary market.

how could you forget...

life-size venom
grey hulk vs. spidey
red/black spidey

it's odd, for as many pieces that are considered 'grails', quite a few of them sure do seem to surface pretty regularly. i guess that anyone could argue 'til they're blue in the face as to what they think a grail is defined as... monetary value, how rare it is, something a collection MUST have. i honestly think that it has more to do with personal preference than anything. there are probably people out there that would drop 1700-1800 on a mint doom exclusive, but i've owned one and wouldn't pay more than 900-1000 for one. don't get me wrong, it's a great statue, but it doesn't do all that much for me. for 1800, i'd much rather have a grey hulk dio or a new/mint venom bust, but i'm a lot bigger fan of the character and the piece is just so well done.

The Classic Red/Black Spidey PF is definitely a fan favorite but I've never heard a real strong consensus that its a grail. Same goes with the Life-Size Venom bust. A lot of people love it but never heard it called that same term.

The Hulk vs Spidey Dio is an interesting one....it was considered a grail for a while but that was a while back and people really didn't carry it too far past....not sure about it.

You know a Thanos with light-up Infinity Gauntlet would be a grail. It would also be one of the greatest Marvel collectables ever.

Either that or it's going to come from a different license than Marvel/Star Wars.

Too many people have already caught on to the Marvel rush and Sideshow knows this.

Bowens WW Hulk will be the next marvel grail. If SS should ever does a WWH version then that would bump out bowens of course. Its all speculation at this point any way...who knows the next grail could be a lsb......:lol

I agree. And hopefully it will be something I have. :)

Are we talking along the lines of The Thing PF or even more unnoticed than that? Because I'll tell you I bought The Thing simply because of the deal I got on him. (Way under retail.) Honestly, after getting him, I can't understand why this thing :)lol) hasn't sold out yet. The sheer size is amazing. Even though I'm not a huge FF4 fan, I must say the Thing is a cornerstone of my collection.
