Whats your top 5 favorite movie list ?.
If its a movie thats not very well know be sure to post up a poster or movie pic to make the thread more interesting. :D:peace

1. Aliens
2. The Abyss
3. Brazil
4. Seven Samurai
5. Lord of the Rings Trilogy

I know I'm missing a TON... very hard to narrow it down to 5.

1. Star Wars OT
2. Caddyshack
3. Ghostbusters
4. Trading Places
5. Aladdin

Pretty easy to guess what decade I grew up in.

Did you guys have to think hard to come up with your top five list? I always say to my friends that it doesn't mean much unless the movies instantly pop into your mind when you are asked. If I have to consider at length what my top __ movies are of "all time" are, then I'm sure I have forgotten about another favorite movie, tucked somewhere in the shadows of my mind.

I can think of two instantly however: Blade Runner and Fritz Lang's Metropolis.

  1. Lord Of the Rings Trilogy
  2. Star Wars Saga
  3. Indiana Jones Trilogy (Will include 4th too)
  4. 12 Angry Men Original
  5. To Kill a Mockingbird

kind of a generalized question..IMO......cuz now days you may have to include trilogies, epics, series.......whatever but..

movies with the greatest impact or deep scarring moments, (not in any specific order):

1. Jaws (it took years for me to want to go back in the ocean)
2. star wars (the first one, because it made me think about the possibilities outside of the time we live in )
3. schindler's list ( brought a realism home that i knew existed & happened but not on a level that text books could convey)
4. saving private ryan (the 1st 20 minutes, my dad went thru ww2 & he said that was as real as it got for movies..........he was at iwo jima)
5. bill & ted's excellent adventure...........(thats bullshoot just cuz the first 4 were heavy on my brain) :lol

holy crap........to narrow all the movies i ever watched down to 5 favorite is a hard thing to do because there are so many that serve different purposes, comedy, drama, sci-fi, documentary,...etc,
maybe the title of the thread should be....."if you were stranded in a place for a long long time and could only bring 5 movies.... what would you take with you?..........PORN DOESN'T COUNT !!!! well it does but not in this poll.....:lol

My favorite movie of all time is "It's A Wonderful Life"... after that, it is near impossible to list 4 more, so the next best thing I could come up with is three from each decade.

1920's - Phantom of the Opera; Hunchback of Notre Dame; Metropolis
1930's - Frankenstein; Dracula; King Kong
1940's - It'a A Wonderful Life; Arsenic and Old Lace; The Mummy's Tomb
1950's - Creature From the Black Lagoon; Some Like it Hot; Rear Window
1960's - 2001: A Space Odyssey; Planet of the Apes; Doctor Zhivago
1970's - Star Wars; Jaws; The Godfather
1980's - Raiders of the Lost Ark; ALIEN; Terminator
1990's - Forrest Gump; Goodfellas; Titanic
2000's - The Lord of the Rings; Harry Potter; Pirates of the Carribean (Ok, I cheated for the 2000's, but they are still too new to really decide yet!)
2010's - The Hobbit; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Gears of War :monkey3
