I have nothing against people being upset about products, it's the verbal wars that follow that I wish wouldn't happen, it's upsetting to read through a thread and see people going at each other, I'm just trying to promote civil discussion and that seems to only come when people enjoy a product, anything negative and it spawns into chaos and civility is thrown out.

I agree ! :bow

I have NO issues with anyone who wants to say why they don't like something. What cracks me ups is the lack of ability to say it without grade school comments. If someone doesn't like something SS does instead of just saying it in a manner befitting an adult we say SS is doing a bait and switch, lying, insulting the customer, spinning the truth, insert whatever here. We've gotten more and more of that ever since SW came and it's even spreading some I've noticed into the other areas LOTR, Marvel, Etc. I don't expect everything to be all kissy/kissy but it would be nice if it could be more like the old days.

C4 and SDCC this year will soon give us a boatload of new Star Wars announcements and we'll all be one happy family again, having fun together just like Sean Connery and Pelé:

Amen ! :fireworks

(Pelé...But where is Zidane ? :D )

I don't know less than half of you half as well as I should not like and I DO like less than one quarter of you but not a quarter as well as you don't deserve.

Zidane only shows when the difibulators are out. One shot to the chest and your back to normal.

I think its just a lack of something really amazing to get us all happy again. On that note I would like to annouce I just spent $30 on one of the bendy Dollfine bodies to do a prisoner Leia. Hopefully the tan isnt as much tan as it is caucasion.

So projects for spring break:

Jabba's Palace model kit
Prisoner Leia (dunno if Ill use more the R2/Leia outfit or just the solo Leia outfit)
Gammy Guard
clean my room
and lastly, find a place for all the stuff that came since christmas.

Edit: Wow, I totally forgot to put my Boba Fett in here.

Permit a bit of a rant - but it's times like these that you really see who is a jerk and who isn't.

It seems that when negativity surfaces there are a few trolls that just like to fan the flames and be as disruptive as possible. Usually they don't really care about the issue at hand, but use it to post inflammatory stuff, or make inappropriate jokes or take pot shots at Josh. I've noticed this from some new members, but also those that have been around awhile. It's enough to make me just want to turn the thing off and walk away.

Dave, I hope that i wasn't one of these people. I tried my best to remain civil and not cross any lines. I seriously had a concern about Fett being plastic and as for Josh, he wouldn't get so many pot shots if he didn't feel the need to reply to every single post. :D :monkey3

As happiness is a state of mind, I find the question lacking in objectivity. Which is what I lack from time to time. I don't mind the jerks, quirks, and whatnots, be they gnay, bi or hetro.

I think openess can lead to understanding, be comical if you're not involved, and connect the synapsisii of my greying grey matter, but at times I get sucked into the emotional argument and become as good bad or similar as the next commentor. When the passion comes through its good to have this outlet.

I can't think what it would be like not to be able to walk away at times, just to get some fresh air. At least I get a holiday from work, and when administrating becomes work, you need to have time to recoup. It's about time you had a holiday Dave. I think it would be good for you. See if you can make it a week, or is the thought of my suggestion too stressful in itself?

I'm not happy about some of the latest trends but I'm happier with my financial situation for the first time in years. So the question is a conundrum. Where have they gone? Some are still here, some lurk and some leave. What's changed?

Dave,

Please don't ever shut this place down. Overall, despite some of the things that happen this place is a great place. I would truly be sad if for some reason this place got shut down.

I second that Dave, please don't ever shut these doors. This is by far one of the most relaxed places on the net and I love cruising through here. If need be just take a harder stance on what goes on but please don't ever shut these doors.

And Josh, don't listen to the pot shot takers. You are one of the many Freaks I look forward to sharing a drink with at SDCC this summer! :maul

Adversity fuels debate. Why do forums like to keep their posters filled with happy pills all the time? Although the discussions may get heated, as long as there isn't alot of hitting below the belt, the content should never be squelched. The spectrum of opinion is what made America great. Hell, our entire government is based on it. Hopefully they'll be no book burning here. :emperor

Thanks Mem! I appreciate the kind words. I look forward to meeting you as well this summer. July can't come soon enough.

I agree. Just because there are some heated debates around here from time to time it's no reason to threaten shutting the whole thing down. For the most part this is a great forum and it's become the only SW collecting thread I visit these days(so long, Rebelscum). I just hope there won't be a "though police" mentality that keeps everyone from voicing their concerns when Sideshow screws up.

Josh, you are by for the toughest guy I know who's mother still tucks him in at night:D

I third n' fourth n' fifth it, Dave!

Yeah, I'm a bit of a newbie here...really just found the place when Sideshow took on SW...but I stay because the emphasis around here is generally geared towards enthusiasm for this figures...be it the great array of artists who get so riled up by these pieces they get their own creative juices going and have at it...or just the folk who like having a place to vent & share their passion for this hobby/obsession...

Granted, there are times that some of the more heated exchanges venture into pure snipe to-and-fro, but compared to other sites I used to frequent, the folks here are pretty good at policing each other (or themselves) without it getting too insane or rude...

Have I seen things posted that rankle me or make me think somebody's protesting a bit much? Sure...but I just don't comment or move on, knowing that as soon as somebody hits us with some cool interpretation of their figures or the latest wave of speculation sweeps through on what's next or the shipments commence...

That's always one of my favorite moments around here...it starts that flurry of shipping notices to the wonderful chain reaction of posted images from our regulars (the doilies, the kitchen, the swingset, the outdoors and more each time!), opposing reviews, spirited debates and the great exchange of artists at work...

It's that energy here that makes me a frequent visitor and poster...when the dust settles from toes getting stepped on or the off-color remarks pass or the personal jibes fade (quickly we hope), we're back to using this forum for what it's here for...enjoying Sideshow and other collectibles that wander into the range of discussion...I enjoy the range of personalities that frequent here, weather they make me groan or smile, I keep comin' back for more of it...(and yeah, I know Josh may be the biggest Sideshow cheerleader here, but I'm happy to shake those pom poms just as hard :D )

Please Dave....keep this freak show going! You wouldn't want us out on the street with all of the other fire-eaters and bearded ladies wandering aimlessly would you? :lol
