Me
let me clarify difficulties of being a foreign collector.
I all the time have problem with the USPS sendings to Turkey. Because that USPS do not have an office and vehicles at Istanbul and the post office officers do not want to carry the boxes, they simply send you a letter saying that you have box at the customs and they ask you to come to customs. Accordingly I have to spend my precious time on vacation for going and waiting and the guys / ladies asking questions why did I buy this, how much I paid, I need to pay extra fees...etc. After taking the package I have to spend money for fuel/ spend time...etc.
However, Sideshow has an agreement with FEDEX and are sending with a advantageous shipping price of any other online seller. eg. I am paying 350 $ for vader PF shipment, where on the other hand one of my friend paid 170 $ when he bought from Sideshow. FEDEX has a big facility in Turkiye and they have a huge fleet of vehicles and delivering huge packages to my door.
on top of this, SS is flexible with returns if there will be any problem.
im summary, I am willing to pay 50 $ more and buy from SS to avoid any problems. I consider it as an insurance premium I am paying for health but never use.
I hear you, my friend. Unfortunately, the situation is completely different in Croatia -- FedEx here is run by some of the most incredibly rude people I've ever had the misfortune to meet, and they're completely not interested in private clients, just big companies.
They have regularly charged me two to three times the amount of customs and levies, when compared to the national postal service. (For example, they made me pay $130 for my Fell Beast statue three years ago -- the statue itself was $150! Go figure!) They ridiculed me for being a collector, and they always insisted I communicate with them using a fax. A terrible, terrible company.
I finally couldn't take their arrogance anymore, and asked Sideshow to include Croatia in their EU warehouse service, just so my pieces can be shipped using the Royal Mail. Since then, I've had absolutely no problems with any of my deliveries, and, wouldn't you know it, I pay
normal customs charges.
Anyway, this just goes to show that different shipping options aren't just of cosmetic importance. Royal Mail literally saved my ability to collect, just as the Turkish FedEx did yours. For all those reasons, I've long helf that Sideshow just needs to offer us international collectors a valid choice.
