...Now they are getting cancellations and there are about 40 pieces back up for second chance customers...

I'm sure it'll be even higher than that once it gets close to shipping and cards start being declined and more people cancel, which really surprises me. I didn't expect to see this back in stock at 1000 pieces.

Since Frodo is a Second Chance I cancelled my old one from 2/10/06 then repurchased it to get the Reward Points!
That sir is a smart move.

I am probably going to cancel Frodo as I am not very excited about him. I will definitely cancel if I don't see pictures of the final product before it ships.

The pics that have been posted to the gallery most recently (ie: what is currently showing on the page) is the final production sample that was received from the production facility. That is not the prototype, nor the pre-production sample :duff

Word. Thanks for the info. Knowing is half the battle.

And I can assure that those pics are why this is now available for second chance offer. I really hope the actual item looks better as I am excited for this to begin shipping.

Really? They made 800 of the Morgul Lord bust. I just picked one up for $160 on eBay, instead of $260 from Sideshow. It's sick to order from Sideshow for me. The only reason is Exclusive. And even then I would have saved money if I had bought above-retail on Ebay.

Lurtz $350 US
Shippping $65 US
FedEx "Brokerage fees" bullcrap + customs (15% of declared value) $80 US

Just over $500 US for Lurtz Exclusive?

If I get Frodo PF for $300US on eBay and the seller is willing to declare less than paid for value (most sellers do oblige) and they use USPS, I still pay less than ordering direct from Sideshow. The way things go I'm almost certain that I will be able to pick up Frodo PF for $200 plus shipping (famous last words? :))

I really honestly think the lazy eye is due more to the extreme close up and will not have this problem.

Josh, I think that the Wayne's World-esque extreme closeup is entirely to blame for a lot of the negative reaction this piece has gotten. I am also in the minority too, thinking that it is the nicest rendition of Frodo to date. The only think separating it from perfection is the hair not being as wild and wooly as Frodo's looked all the time. I can't wait to get some more PF from this line, both on order (soon:confused: ) and on my shelf (Come on Frodo Shipping notice!)

We're on the same page Seaward.

I don't think you can compare Busts to Full Figures. Busts are for the most part not as popular as full figures. I'm not surprised by the Legendary Scale Bust line not selling out. I thought 800 was very high for that type of collectible. Frodo is a main character with a cool base.

Im not sure how an extreme close up would show a false lazy eye.

My mace windu 1:6 figure had a lazy eye similiar to the one Frodo has, and even in 1:6 scale it was obvious when viewed from a few feet away.

I like the Frodo PF, its really grown on me but I have a hard time ordering from SSC Direct, while the lure of reward points is there something tells me if I wait long enough I could probably get it around $200 even on eBay. I waited for the Spider-Man PF until last week and nabbed it off of an eBay seller for $215 Shipped.....decisions.....:frodo

I will have a hard time keeping Frodo if he has a lazy eye as bad as the one in the picture. But I am going to reserve judgment until I actually have it in front of me. I can't imagine them painting 1000 of them to look like that and not have anybody in the QC department notice.

I am excited for this piece and I am hoping for the best.

You and me both. But then if I don't keep Frodo, I don't know what the point of keeping this line would be. We might get a second Frodo but at this pace it would be at least 5-6 years away. I really hope this is like usual where it looks a lot better in person.

I'm looking forward to having the Ringbearer arrive as well. I can't imagine that all 1,000 will have the horrible lazy eye. As has already been mentioned the Leia PF had terrible eye paint on the website then when they shipped they all looked fine. I'll keep my hopes up that the same will hold true for Frodo.

Just buy a Martin St. Loius McFarlane figure and Frodo will be in the house!

I agree, Frodo is pretty close to a make or break piece for me. Aside from him (and of course GtG), the other characters I would get are mostly based on costuming etc, not really much the "character value."
