Which SUPES?

Okay guys. Made my Batman decision. Made my Wolverine decision. Now, which version of Superman from the new movie is THE ONE to order?

Please, post pictures, make pitches. I need healthy debate to make up my mind.

I went with Takara. The Bruce Wayne head sealed it. Geez, I feel awful having started a DC thread in the Marvel forum, but...ordered the Medicom Wolverine, guys!

Now, what are the virtues we see in the HT Supes?

As we saw in another thread, Medicom is also doing a Clark Kent - so that might be of some influence. I can't make the decision, I'm getting them all...

I went with Hot Toys (for their Batman, too -- would love the Bruce head but too disapointed in the Cool Girl figures... anyway) Superman after seeing the pics posted on this site...

Two things of note... A) the fabric of the suit vs. the fabric of the figure's suit. B) I like the coloring of the figure's head.

Okay here's the cool shots but there are others worth checking out thru the link. Sorry they're so BIG but the point is to show the fabric texture and smaller just doesn't cut it.

I really think HT nailed it with the likeness and body.


The thing that bothers me about the Medicom is how big his chest is and the material for the costume. Is his cape supposed to look like leather?


I don't care for the DC Direct version at all. The likeness isn't great and his body is too beefy.

Random kinda OT observation, but I hope that if Brandon Routh continues
with the Superman role, he gets bigger and bigger with each film. I'm talking
Alex Ross body proportions from Kingdome Come, as that is the physique that
I think Superman should have.

Kingdom Come is one of my favorite comic stories. That's a movie I would be excited to see if it was made properly.

Back on topic, I say Hot Toys also. They likeness puts it over the top for me.

Yep, of the choices above, I think that HT is the best of the three.
I do hope he looks more like the DC Direct version in following films though.

Thanks Batty & gdb for posting the pictures. Yeah, looks like Hot Toys is the way to go.

When I saw gdb's picture of Routh, it occurred to me that he resembles Ken Wahl, who used to play TV's "Wise Guy" and was in "Fort Apache the Bronx." Maybe Ken Wahl shoulda played Jor-El.

Direct quote from Les Walker, the amazing artist who did the best sixth scale Chris Reeve headsculpt ever IMO (there is a thread of his Supes somewhere) and I am very lucky to actually have his Reeve, pictured in my avatar.

Anyway he wrote me recently and this is what HE said:

"I too look forward to the new Superman. Have you seen the new Hot Toys 12" one? Looks perfect. Kills any and all customs I have seen of it. Absolutely. Get that one, and you are done.
Same with the Batman Begins one. Perfect."

Needless to say I have both HT BB and SR on order.

It IS weird that there is a LOT of texture and detail to the new suit that might or might not let people appreciate it more, but the merchandise so far shows none of that.

I agree 100%...the Alex Ross Superman is THE quintessential Superman body.....however I dont think you will find a human that can act, has the facial look and the overwhelming size to fit the part....maybe Brandon can go on a Barry Bonds diet, in a few months he will swell to that size
