Yeah but Lucas keeps coming back for more. He is reliant on SW and SW only.

Jackson doesn't milk things? How about LOTR on Blu-Ray in theatrical release only and extended versions down the road? Uh, ca$h grab.

That is the only thing I can think of when it comes to milking with PJ. Although people are always B^^^^^^ about how long an confusing LOTR is so the theatrical versions keep those people content but for the true fans the extended version take precedence without a doubt. I know the number one purpose of films is to make money but IMO Jackson just put more heart into the franchise than most directors and had a deep respect to the original infrastructure of what Tolkien created which is why LOTR will always be remembered whether reading or watching.

I wasn't a kid when Star Wars came out so it has no hold on me whatsoever. Star Wars is a trilogy for kids. LotR is for Adults. Naturally I prefer LotR.

I was 7 when SW came out, great movie, the next 2 ruled as well.

That all changed when as a 30+ year old with a little more life experience ect. TLOTR came out. Far superior in many ways IMO.

Love both, but gotta go with TLOTR.

None of the above.

You don't like one over the other?

Nothing wrong with that. The Hobbit is a milking movie.
:lecture
Especially considering they're trying to cobble together another movie to go along with.
And I agree- I don't see anything wrong with it (aside from wishing DelToro was working on original projects instead)...just sayin.

Hobbit equals two movies. No cobbling there.:D

I'm referring to when they were talking about one movie being The Hobbit and another about Gandalf when he would take off from the dwarves. I guess that's not the case anymore.
But IMO The Hobbit should be one movie. Splitting it into two is even more of a cash grab.

Trouble is, theaters frown on movies that are too long. Look how much they had to remove from each of the LotR movies for theatrical release. I would rather they made two movies to tell the stories, than one and leave out alot. These stories are alot more complex to tell than SW was.

I wasn't a kid when Star Wars came out...I wasn't even born. It had a HUGE hold on me regardless. I am a huge fantasy nerd and you would think I would be in LotR...NOPE. I finally saw the first two this year.

Now I really prefer Indy Trilogy over any of these.
