Ok so you don't like Begins or Dark Knight - messaged recieved. Back to the purpose of the thread...Batman Forever. I think it had a lot of potential, it was just poorly envisioned and badly cast. I'd love to see a decent film representation of the Riddler - Carrey was pretty much Ace Ventura in a skin tight suit.

Yeah totally agree. I love the Riddler, and really wanna see a good film adaptation of him. Not just Ace Ventura with green spandex and ever changing hair (another thing that bothered me about forever, his hair seemed to change length and colour nightly :lol)
I do agree Forever had some potential, with the proposed psychological stuff, and the choice of villains. It was just all poorly executed in my opinion.

sorry but i think TDK sucked.

How does it "suck"?

I don't see how anyone who likes '89, or hell Batman in general can think TDK "sucks". What's not to like about the Ledger Joker? The only complaint towards the Joker I could see is the obnoxious following the character has garnered. Other than that, top notch.

There are some aspects of the movie that are a little weak, like the Bale Batman voice, some of the acting by the supporting cast and extras but there isn't much. Every film has it's flaws.

You don't like the Joker? You don't like the opening bank heist? The batpod? The interrogation scene? I find that hard to believe.

the interrogation scene is the most memorable of any bat-film i think

Love it, hate the villians and Robin tho but Kilmer kick arse as Batty. Wish the Battycar was nicer than that sci-fi looking piece. Nicole Kidman, yum! The soundtracks featuring Seal and U2 rocks too! Still have both songs in my MP3.

Re: Who actually liked like 95' Forever?

always wanted a accurate1/6 scale light up forever batmobile.

I hope HT will produce this after the 89's version, in 1/6!!!

Good post DiFab...but I'm not a fan of campy Batman. Not at all.

As a kid, this movie rocked my world...but it doesnt hold up. And I dont like it. :dunno. :D

I'm tempted to find out if I still like it. I saw it in the theater when I was 21, and doing a lot of psychedelic drugs (not at the movie though). It was entertaining at the time, but that's it. All I can really remember was that I liked more than the Burton stuff.

I dont know...it brings back nostalgia, and that's fun in a way....but man...is that movie ever hammy. I never dug that side of Batman after I got older.

It's not that insulting. It's just...ehh. I guess what bothers me now mostly is, Two Face and The Riddler act like The Joker...neither are an actual threat in any way. I dont mind the comedy....but damn.

I didn't read comics as a kid, so my only real history with the character was the tv show when I was a toddler, and the Burton movies, which I never liked. Forever was something that generated real nostaligia when I saw it, and it was unencumbered with demands to be taken seriously. The downside was that afterwards, I stopped paying attention all together.

I don't know if I ever would have thought twice about Batman again if not for Batman Begins. Certain comic art had been luring me in, but nothing was able to push me over the edge until Nolan and Bale. That brought back everything I had ever taken seriously about the character, and made him something worth being a fan of again.

I prefer the serious take that the Burton and Nolan films offer myself but I can still enjoy semi/border line seriousness (Batman Forever) and straight up wackiness (Batman and Robin).

Growing up the Burton films and Batman: The Animated Series were my Batman and still are. The "dark deco", film noir, version of the late 80s/early 90s. But from time to time, I'd watch reruns of the 60s show with Adam West.

Even as a kid I could differentiate between the two "styles" and enjoyed both of them while still seeing them as different. Of course I could have done without the camp, but I still liked it for what it was. Some of that stuff in Batman: The Movie and the 60s show are pure gold. Things like Robin solving all the Riddles or Joker and Batman in a surfing competition. I'm serious too.

One version of Batman would be boring as hell. The character and the character's history is far too strong for that.

That's all well and good...but i'm still partial to serious Batman. He's a more interesting character to me. I'm not a giant fan. I actually grew to hate the character when I got older, due to the campy stuff.

It wasnt until Begins that I actually fell in love with the character again.

I like batman forever better than I like batman returns. tim burton got to excited the second time around or something.

I too like the seriousness of B89 and BB.

I was digging Kilmer's mimicry of Keaton's Bruce Wayne but the ass shot and the overacting, dayglow badguys sent the movie crashing down like a fat guy trying to hang-glide. Also made me laugh because it seemed like Bruce Wayne was spilling his secret identity to any woman who opened her legs for him. "Wanna eat at the Y Brucy?" "I'm Batman!"

its seems the days of the fun cool batman movie are gone for good, unless the next director wants to bring back the batman of the comics. /QUOTE]

yep toilet paper, as in i can wipe my ass with comic books. thats how much they mean to me. i mean who reads them anyway besides little kids and comics nerds? i love the movies though, but latley the movies have been sucking.
.

So if comics are toilet paper to you and you're "too good" for them, how would you know what "bringing Batman back to comics" even means? Do you even understand your own arguments? Or are you just blindly bashing Nolan's Batman because it's the "cool thing to do"? Like you are superior for disagreeing with the masses?

Also, I am going to go out on a limb and guess you're not a "book reader" are you? Like they are not cool and stuff? Otherwise you might realize that these movies that you like are adaptations of comics and therefore there must be some good stuff in them. Obviously, not just for little kids and comic nerds. Also, by reading comics and or books, you MAY LEARN HOW TO SPELL and act like a big boy.

So true... if batman was a real person in this day and age, all those women would have sold him out for some cash and 15 minutes of fame... :lol

:goodpost: Agree with every letter of this. Glad somebody said it. I didnt get how he says we need a good director that "brings batman back to the comics" then says the comics are "toilet paper." Kind of contradicting himself.

Of all the places to start bashing comics and "nerds"...you choose this forum lol. No matter how much you hate and bash nolan/bale, support for you here will be very very limited. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and the right to voice that opinion - you have made yours quite clear. Now, with respect - shush. :peace
