After sleeping it off and looking at this piece again in the morning I can safely say this will be an eventual Marvel grail. Having owned ALL Marvel dioramas at one point or another, this is the most complex one they have done and easily the greatest.

You know what the catalyst is? those damn bat wings. If they would have done just Blade and a monster-like Dracula fighting it out on some stairs the piece would have been in the Thor Vs Loki category (may be a few notches better). However, once you see the detail and transparency of the wings, and you install them on the back of Dracula, all of the sudden it gives the whole thing more mass and kicks it up a few notches. Only 900 of these made is insane. They had to have lost money in expected revenue on this one (not enough preorders?) since there is so much that I feel went into it. The good thing is that it's easier to QC less pieces so those that get it have a good chance of getting a good one ( sorry again Dannie! :( )

Tomorrow :D:D:D

I think me and Nash got on the wait list around the same time so it'll be interesting to see what # I get. I'm sure it'll probably be 281

I agree on all accounts bro. Like I said, Dracula's wings are a masterpiece all in it's own! Just taking the wings out of the packaging and holding it up is like "holy ^^^^!!".

Loki you wont be disappointed I promise. and though you dont have room to put it, youre going to make room trust me :rock

I think the general lack of interest in Blade will keep this from being a grail, despite the excellent quality.

Only time will tell though...

I think the same. People were claiming the Thor vs Loki as a grail as well...

The fact is no matter how great looking this is the fan base isn't there for this particular piece and those that aren't fans won't want to pay an extreme amount for something they are really not that into. I believe this piece falls in the same category as the Darkness PF and maybe the WoW diorama...Both are exceptionally detailed and amazing in person but neither will reach grail status... well at least not for many years to come if at all.

on the same note, I think that Doom had a slightly larger fan following but not but by much. The movie Doc Doom is pretty embarrassing IMO but the quality of the piece is what put it over the top.

I doubt the Blade/Drac will be a HUGE grail, but it will end up fairly sought after.
If they could kiskstart the Blade movie franchise with another quality installment, then it very might well become a true grail. but Blade probaly doesnt have the following needed to become a true grail without help from the movie side.

That said, I think the Doom PF is freakin sweet, but personally I cant stand the FF. Its only the quality of the piece that makes it appealing to me. And theres no doubt the quality of the Blade/Drac is def there..

Yeah for sure. The quality and detail are definitely there on this piece... well except for the paint in my opinion, but that may just be me.:lol

The thing that is appealing about Doom is how exceptional every element is. From how well the fabric blends in with the polystone to how great and menacing the pose is.

Only time will tell with this piece... and every other piece that is released. I know people hated the 1:1 Thing bust when it was released and now many wish they could own it. That's just how fickle we all are in this hobby. :lol

exactly. its a whiners' world these days. Esp with the interenet.
I thought the Thing bust kicked ass when I first saw it. Again, dont care about the character itself. I also recall much whining about the Venom bust when it was released ".... why is the tongue so long, thats all anybody does anymore waaaaaa ... I want my bah bah...." ..... STFU already, it kicks major ass..... :monkey1

Those wings are nice. They have a layered look to them, giving the wings a fiberous, feather like look up close. Very well done.

I dont understand why he thinks the paint apps suck. there's no slop or mis-painted areas on mine. everything is on point.

After seeing in-hands pics of this dio...Even the great Worm has to bow down to his greatness....

just inspected mine, all good. This thing is going to be a little challenging if and when you need to put him back in the box. I'd recommend photos for reference later.

I was surprised at how light the base is.

It's mostly the colors they chose that bother me like the purple pants. I also don't understand how Blade is cut so deeply on his arm yet the wound looks so dry. I want some blood or something. :lol

You like Hulk, yet hulk has purple pants. im confused.

Yeah, I like Wolverine too but definitely don't agree with those green pants he wears sometimes though. :lol

On this piece it comes off particularly unnatural to me. The purple pants hit me in the face. I also don't care for the Blade sculpt. His boots look oversized. :huh I also think the colors of the dying/slayed vampires only look good when lit up. In daylight they look bad.

The designs for Blade and Dracula for this piece border on anime which is part of the appeal. Blade is a bit stocky and is not just the armor. Dracula looks ferocious but cartoony at the same time.

The twist is that when all that detail is added to the piece the anime factor gets overshadowed by the drama of the sculpt.

That's what I was talking about or trying to say... I just couldn't find the right words. :lol That's also why I said it looked too comic like or cartoony. Awesome description. :rock

I hope to have it in my office when I get out of my meetings
