dont care at all. when its mainstay and improved to 4k ill give it a thought. im waiting to see if its going to be a gimmick like 3d was.

One good demo would be enough to show you that it's not a gimmick. Hopefully, the PSVR and maybe even one of the PC devices will be demoed in stores this year.

Im fully behind VR. Personally i have only experienced the first Oculous prototype, with a low frame rated demo, and it was quite piss-poor. But i look orward to try the final versions of all of these devices this year.

I cant wait for applications like movies or plays, where you are in the middle of the action. That has truly incredible potential. It will most likely not be in its ideal level till maybe its 3rd generation like Smartphones but by then it will explode imo

hopefully im impressed with PSVR. And i hope if PS4K is real that its and attachable preferable rather than a whole new system.

I haven't tried the PSVR yet, but based on reviews and the specs, you'll be blown away by it after trying the Rift DK1. I own a dk1 and even using the DK2 was a huge jump. Not just the PQ and performance, but the positional tracking is a massive difference maker. People still don't know how amazing VR can be yet, but that will change soon.

It would have to be a whole new system, there's nothing on the PS4 that allows for hardware like that to be attached, all it has as far as plugs is USB. If they had a box with just a new processing unit then USB wouldn't be fast enough to transfer the data. So it might be possible that Microsoft or Sony could release new consoles that are basically the same hardware but with the ability to add or switch things out but it's definitely something that requires a new design to support that.

You are forgetting the port for the camera...

Definitely have to try one of them. But not buying until there is more content available. The one out in space is worth a try though.

I was part of the Oculus Kickstarter so I'm getting it for free. I'd probably still order Oculus if I weren't getting it for free. I'd kind of like to test the Vive but it's not worth spending $800 given that it has less games and I have the Oculus coming. PSVR will be popular because of the lower price and that it only requires a PS4 to use, but it's going to give the worst experience in every way so I don't think it will go far.
I think things will be much better when they get 4k screens for it and make it wireless

Did you get your Rift yet? A lot of Kickstarters got it today and the Store launched officially today.

Here's my thoughts:

-Screen is much nicer, it could still be better but it's improved over the DK2
-high quality build, materials are much nicer, stuff like the material that goes around your face and it has pretty good adjustment features
-software works really well, it has a sensor so that it'll activate when you put it on, you can use the Oculus stuff from the headset
-headphones work really well, sounds like surround sound
-lots of free demos to try out
-really awesome box, like it probably cost a good amount for just the box. Not quite as good as having the plastic case that came with the DK1, but if you want you could still use it to transport things, and luckily it has enough room for the headset, camera, and Xbox controller.

Issues:
-there's a weird kind of effect around the edges, it's like the light shafts effect you see in games, basically the image has streaks like beams of light around the edges, also kind of looks like the screen reflects around the sides of the lens
-a bit tight on the nose
-couldn't get sound to work in Eve: Valkyrie
-Oculus software and games that you download/purchase through it have to be installed on the C: drive, you don't have the option to install it anywhere else

And possibly my own issue, but it seems that the motherboard I have has a big USB3.0 issue, in that they probably never worked correctly in the first place. The Rift doesn't work when plugged into them and so I was trying to fix the Valkyrie sound issue which may be caused by not using a USB3.0 port and I could not get things fixed. What's worse is that the headset isn't working properly now, used to be it would work on USB2.0 but not as well, but now it won't come up when I plug it in, and I'm unable to do a system restore because Windows says there's an issue replacing an Nvidia graphics driver file. So I'm going to be working on it again once I get back home, but I'm thinking about trying to upgrade my motherboard.

The usb 3.0 thing has been an issue for a lot of people/ I had to buy a usb card just for the Rift. I won't know if it works until Oculus decides to eventually ship my Rift. Some have been able to use 2.0 like you did, but I haven't heard about the problems from that until now. Was the sound issue just with Eve? Everything else worked right? If so,that's pretty odd. File a support ticket with Oculus if it doesn't get straightened out.

They said they're working on a solution for the c:drive problem.

The light thing you're talking about is caused by the ridges on the fresnel lenses. Light from the screen is getting refracted by them.

The whole launch has been a cluster. Thankfully, I've been able to use my dk2 for the Store so I've been enjoying Lucky's Tale and Chronos while I wait. Looks like the wait is going to be pretty long for most of us.

From what I gather, the X79 socket doesn't actually have USB3.0 native support, so whatever is on there is the manufacturer's hardware, so that's probably the issue. I'm actually upgrading my computer so it won't be a problem
But I figured out the issue that was preventing it from working again---the USB cable itself, I can bend it in a position to where it will connect so now I've got it taped to the side of my desk so that it's bent correctly to work. Since that cable is removable I'm guessing they can send me a replacement (eventually).
The sound issue was only with Eve: Valkyrie, which is odd considering that stuff like the Dreamdeck is done with Unreal Engine 4 as well and doesn't have the issue.

heard vive will be getting Fallout 4... very interested to see how it comes out. Saw another game called Vanishing Realms with overwhelmingly positive reviews on steam that I'd like to try. Looks similar to being in legend of zelda. Anybody try it?
