I'm looking for a bit of everything, some big cities, some nature, some shopping, some swimming...

Right now I'm looking into the following:

- Sydney
- Melbourne
- Uluru
- Cairns

I let my thougts be known in post 77 and post 80. If you read through the other posts, in this thread, you may gain some insights.

Positives for Melbourne: Melbourne beaches are too cold to swim in, though we do have four seasons in one day, most days, just to get a taste for all weather conditions. Puffing Billy railway through the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. Plenty of walks through luscious huge fern forests. Healesville Sanctuary for an assortment of native wildlife. Wineries galore heading out that way. Spend a weekend or a few days driving along the Great Ocean Road, which has spectacular views over the coastline. Go to Phillip island, a motor sport haven, motor bikes and V8 car races, at the right time, but also features a fairy penguin parade. Melbourne zoo. It's a big bloody zoo. Restaurants galore, live theatre, art centres, museums, ballooning, the Old Melbourne Gaol, live band pub scene, Aquarium, sport mecha. You get the idea.

yes they have a small range of SS stuff, from what I saw today they have the
pred dio, alien resurection dio, HT pred bust, DC direct TDK figs and a 1:1 Scarface
Aussie exc bust, that was Cheap $479 never seen one for under $700 (very tempted)
Dio's were a bit of a rip though $309. Also the PF's I mentioned in the other thread
were resonably priced.

Well, I've given up waiting for local supply of the Indy PF. My latest information is that they are not due till February, but it just keeps slipping every week and know knows when it actually will be and how many will even show up (remembering the reduced shipment of the Fell Beast vs Eagle dio, meaning even tho I had a pre-order, I still missed out).
So, I've placed an order with a US dealer while there is still 'fairly' cheap stock around, that and our dollar just had a bit of rise.

All in all, I have a bad feeling for collecting in Australia in the coming year, especially for the higher end stuff. I expect little to be brought in, for it to be expensive and delayed for months. Add to that I can see some shops even closing, so purchase options are also likely to be limited.
The only bright side at the moment, is that over the past 6 months, just about nothing has been announced that I'll want, so I guess I'll be saving money anyway.

Im thinking the same thing about delays in 09.
I normally by my stuff through Casefresh but the delays are driving me nuts.
Can anyone recommend a decent Australian dealer that is reliable for 1:6 Sidehow and Medicom stuff????

From now on, I've decided to buy most of my 1/6 scale figures from e-bay, since I get them quicker, and will usually be cheaper. (Especially the HT stuff)

Got (getting) it from Adam: https://store.darkshadowcollectibles.com I think he may have 1 left of his re-supply (yes, he already sold out of initial stock).

Costing me a bit more then some local price listings, but then who says those prices will hold once they actually arrive anyway, if they ever arrive and just like the Fell Beast vs Eagle, this is one that I really want.

Minigt, can't really help all that much with the 1:6 stuff, since I don't buy any of that. But I am aware of Cashfresh and like all OZ stores, they get stock from Ikon, so if its delayed with Cashfresh, it will be delayed with everyone else, unless they purchase direct from the US, pay the extra, which means it will cost even more here, so you may well buy direct yourself.

I had pre-orders down for the Indy and Galadriel PF's with my local shop, Movie Maniacs (https://www.movie-maniacs.com) and as of last week, he was told February by the supplier, Ikon. Mind you, in the past, Ikon also said, November, December and January.

I know the website Popcultcha (https://www.popcultcha.com.au) has him listed at $430 and said to be coming soon for like 6 months. I even hear that if you order and pay a deposit, they will stick to the $430 price and I think that has a lot to do with the delay. Ikon are waiting it out for a good deal, dollar to get stronger, etc, etc, so that it can be brought in and still make a profit at $430.

Then even when that happens (if it happens), Sideshow will have got sick of waiting, sold many of the 'overseas shipments' and then send very few down to Australia, just like with the Fell Beast vs Eagle. At which point, sure, a lucky few may well get it for $430, but I so won't be surprised if the rest get a deposit refund, while all that time Ikon has been using the money to get all the smaller, quick sell, high volume items in for sale over Christmas.

Now it should be noted, that I'm just guessing on most of this, but I suspect its not far off the mark, based on a few emails, past experience, and chats with a couple of local shops.

Upshot, if its something that you really want, then you'll have to pay some extra and get it from the US. Otherwise, wait it out and see if you get luckly and even then, it still may not be much cheaper.

I ordered mine with Popcultcha. Also ordered Thor PF and IM life-size bust from them.
Paid the deposit, so we'll see. He said my orders were confirmed by the warehouse or somthing like that, so I'm guessing they'll be getting their shipments. Still no word on Thor, and he's been out for sooooo long. But other countries, such as countries in EU, are just getting theirs now, so hopefully we're not far behind.

Yeah, well, I had my order 'confirmed' for the Fell Beast vs Eagle dio with Kollectable Koas. They pre-ordered 6 of them, which covered all the order they had and even one for the boss. The week they starting shipping in Australia, only 3 showed up, ALL orders were cut in half, since sideshow only shipped half of the requested number. But no one knew that was case till the week they arrived.

I can tell you I was darn pissed and in fact so was the local store, but what could you do. Well, as luck would have it, again, Adam still had stock, did me a good deal on postage and our dollar, while having dropped, was still just high enough, that I ended up getting it for around $10 less then it was going to cost me locally.

So, basically I'm not taking the chance this time, but yes, it will be interesting to see how it works out for you.
