Why is it so difficult to keep discussion about movies in the movie section?

I'm sure for those discussing the movie in all the figure threads, AVENGERS, THOR, CAPTAIN AMERICA, would hate it if they were on the other end of this.

PLEASE discuss the movies in the movie section NOT the figure threads!

This should probably be in the "Questions and Suggestions" section...

Geez, why is that so hard to keep this discussion in there?? :p

I was partly joking, but if you want it to be noticed quicker by the powers that be (even though it's been an issue forever it seems) you got to post it in there...

Bottomline, this is a forum that is fueled on collectibles from pop culture and the entertainment world, people get excited and start heading off in the other direction, we all do it... it's going to be super hard to police everyone that that posts about "this and that" in forums that are about "this and that."

I am not trying to be a jerk, but if it bugs you so much... you may want to tread lightly in the forums you're most interested in... especially when things like "The Avengers" are all the talk right now... at least until you have seen the film(s) of course.

We can't even get people to read stuff posted two posts ahead of theirs around here and we're talking content? :lol

A good number of folks don't participate in discussions they drop whatever is on their minds and then sift through to read what they feel like, that includes stuff from movies, books, etc. It's become the mode of operations for some and changing it would require real serious modding that I guarantee isn't going to happen.

It's just something to deal with.

It's amazing that I'm getting flack because I like many others don't want the movie spoiled as opposed to those potentially doing the spoiling.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you nor do we think you're wrong... it's just not going to happen, it's not even just here... spoilers are all over the internet, it's not like a movie can be kept underwraps for very long with the age of the net.

If it truly bugs you, you have stay away from it... because just like in real conversations people stray off topic and just spill it, i am pretty good at keeping spoilers in check... i would never tell anyone online that Andrew Garfield's Spidey makes an appearance in The Avengers because i know that would make others mad... i have common sense.

It's not flack per se, more an idealistic way to look about it. A section is only as strong as it's mods. It's not a paying gig and some are better than others but the vigilance to keep all things clean and cleared in the sections is more time than I think even our best mods will have time for.

The admin wants this board to operate in a reasonably loose way, and I personally prefer that. Unless things go too far, of course. That being said, I think providing genuine spoilers for current movies in a place where they don't belong (i.e., with a spoiler bar or in a thread that says *spoilers allowed* in the title) is an infractionable offense. If you do it, then you're either oblivious or kind of a jerk.

Dave doesn't want overbearing moderation here, so it really goes beyond the issue you are talking about, I think.

As soon as The Avengers opens in the US every Avenger figure thread is going to be flooded with spoilers anyway.
Then a lot of people will be getting infractions. Not everyone here can go see the movie on opening day, and that shouldn't prohibit them from being able to read through threads about collectibles. If you want to post a spoiler, use the spoiler tag.

Basically there are these things on ever post that look like an "!" in a triangle located underneath everyone's avatar. If someone is being a douche, press the magic button, and move on with life.

I like it when it goes with the flow. If people are commenting the movie in the figure thread it usually means that the comments are somewhat relevant in the thread. I personally enjoy it like this.

Agreed. As soon as the movie is out... IT'S ON!

That's what I meant. Lot's of movie talk with spoilers.:wink1:

Yeah I just did that in 2 of the figure threads. Sorry guys.

I've already come across some Avengers spoilers because a couple of jackasses felt the need to just blurt them out in Hot Toys threads. One world class moron even posted an animated gif from a bootleg in his signature. Talk about the movie in the movie thread. Honestly, there shouldn't even be a reason to use spoiler tags in the figure threads since spoilers shouldn't be posted in those threads to begin with. I'm trying so hard to avoid spoilers but it's ridiculous that I can't even read a figure thread without the worry coming across one.

Edit:
Wow. Not a minute after a post this another moron decides to post a screen cap of the end credits scene. Some of the people on this forum apparently just don't give a ____ about others and post whatever the hell they want with blatant disregard.
