Just to change the subject, which Rogue One (and Solo) characters do we think will turn up in the Cassian series?

Aside from K2S0, I'm hoping they don't do any overlap, aside from maybe mentioning in passing. They need to come up with new characters we haven't seen, so they can be picked off as the series goes on.

Yeah but there have been some pretty heavy connecting characters when I think of Saw, Two Tubes (in Rebels, Solo & R1).

Yes they need to bring some new characters but a couple of the “old” is good fan service.

Someone else mentioned earlier in that they hope Cassuan will be like Cassians opening scene of R1. I'm sure they'll go this way. I think it's been pretty proven that fan base likes and wants more grown up movies.

I'm also at the point where I really don't care much at all about the trilogy. I'll still go watch it, but I highly doubt JJ can totally save it at this point. And my heart's just not in it. Which as Darthtoffeeman also mentioned really sucks as a longtime SW fan.

Beside Ktoo all other R1 characters would seem forced as nothing suggests that ‘they have met before’. Maybe Saw would be ok to get in there.

I sort of already alluded to it in my previous post but I love the question.

I'd say Saw, 2tubes, old Enfys maybe ? Maybe Krennic but only in passing. And perhaps even Ahsoka in one episode. I think that fits timeline wise. I'm assuming she worked with other cells and people in the rebels like Cassian. She'd certainly get fans excited. They love her.

Wonder if Filoni will also be involved in The Cassian series too ? Would make sense.

That reminds me. I think Cassian doesn't let on as much as he knows about Baze and Chirrut when he explains who they are to Jyn. I reckon there's a chance for them to cameo. If only so HT can make that Baze !!! [emoji14]

That would be nice :)

Who was the main person actually responsible for the idea of R1 and the story? Did Gareth Edwards have much creative input with regards to story or characters, or was he strictly there in a directorial capacity? In other words is there any real need to bring Gareth Edwards back in to aid in the Cassian series? People seem to love R1 and it's built up quite a following in the last 3 years, but it seems Gareth Edwards hardly ever gets a mention, unlike JJ and RJ.

As for taking characters from R1 and Solo there is definitely room there to use certain characters in stronger supporting roles than they were used in those films (e.g. Saw and his Rebels, Enfys Nest, Qi'ra, Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, Darth Maul etc.), but as others have said it would be strange to include characters like Jyn. For me the perfect cameo would be to re-introduce Ewan as Obi-Wan, as a teaser for his own series.

It wouldn’t really make sense to have Ewan make a cameo in the Cassian series, as he would have to be old like Alec. If they are planning to do an Obi series — the Mythos route, prior to any R1 time-frames would make more sense — then they could use Ewan.

John Knoll had the original idea and pitched it to KK. He then wrote the story with Gary Witta.

I was thinking along the lines of Cassian saying he's been in the rebellion since 6 years old and if they showed some of his younger life. Actually I really hope that's how they start the series off, much as they did with young Jyn in Rogue One.

You know what I forgot he said that at Celebration. I wonder if he'll have any input in the Cassian series?

My guess would probably be Saw and his resistance squad. Remember Saw and his gang used to be part of the Alliance, but later broke out in RO to establish solo guerrilla warfare agaisnt the Empire.

Yep exactly. Gareth got a bad rap in the end I think. He put everything into it. The look, the gritty feel and the filming. He was behind the camera in a lot of shots. Those space battle shots were also totally epic.

But I have a feeling the reason he doesn't get much PR is because at the end the film it didn't really come together. They had to get in some other guy (Gilroy I think) to pull it all together and save it. He was responsible for the final Vader scene which wouldn't have been in it (one of my favourite bits in Rogue One).

But Gareth is for me still the man ! I remember in one of those trailers he mentions " if all you're going to do is copy the original SW, then what are you bringing to the table". I thought that was a pretty ballsy statement considering it was one of the main issues with TFA.

But he was totally right imo.

Well, as I apparently have to scratch the itch of addiction I bought the R1 Tie Fighter pilot. A very nice figure indeed

Nice. I had the SS tie fighter pilot so didn't get him but you've got to have a tie fighter pilot in your collection imo.

Him standing opposite Luke in flight gear is also a pretty sweet display.

If they don't make Baze and the Range Trooper, I don't see why HT will make Saw. Don't get me wrong, it's a great design but just look at the materials they will need and how complicated it is.

Still no love?

Can’t see them making him based off his appearance in Rogue One, seeming they didn’t even make Cassian or Baze, or his appearance in the game. However, if he’s announced as being part of the main cast for the Cassian series, fingers crossed, then I’d say there’s a great chance. Forest Whitaker is pretty much an a-list actor, or was at one stage in his career, so would be a big draw for the series. Hope to see him tied in with Enfys Nest, another brilliantly designed character I wish they’d make. Why no love for Enfys Nest?
