Hey my fellow collectors, in 20 years I want everybody to sell me their whole collection of figures and statues for $80 bucks.
No worries - but add $285 000 for the shipping

You forgot.
I dunno. My kids love playing with their toys. Hell, they love getting into daddy's "toys" despite having to pay the consequences time and again.
I guess your blanket generalization would better suit parents who don't give a damn about their kids and let them zombie-out in media venues like tv, videogames, texting, etc., rather than actually have to interact with them.
>> "...If you look at kids today, they're not playing with toys like we use to..."
I have two 7 year old girls. They keep writing birthday lists, all toys.
Here's one B-day list I have in my wallet:
*Barbie Cut'n Style princess
*Barbie A Mermaid's Tail Doll
*Zhu Zhu babies
*Zhu Zhu Kingdom
*Zhu Zhu Beauty Salon
*Bend a Glows
*Happy Nappers
*Earth's Mightiest Heros Action Figures
My statement maybe slightly blanket, but yours is too. Just because your kids are into videogames and tv doesn't mean that your a bad parent and don't interact with your kids. But I guess one blanket statement deserves another
Good post Work... I think I have to agree with you on that.
I hear ya. But that's not what I meant. My kids have their favorite tv shows, love videogames, etc., but I don't ignore them and I interact with them on the daily basis on a regular basis. More often than not it seems like A LOT of parents nowadays are just too busy and self absorbed to deal with their kids.
Well said, Work. I agree completely.
Thanks buddy, It's really sad and a shame that more people/kids don't appreciate toys and toy collecting like we do here at sideshow freaks. To me, toys are like little works of art. Infact, I consider some hot toys figures and other toys to be as good as museam quality type peices-They should be considered as art collectibles instead of toy collectibles.
You could fool me. Every kid I know has a closet full of toys. It's stuff they're interested in, that I don't hardly know about anymore. In time they'll probably look for the really nice version of stuff they care about. Maybe a Dora the Explorer Hot Toys line someday?
You can buck this trend by forcing them to watch old transformers cartoons, or predator movies, or star wars etc... don't give up hope!!! you can still brain-wash them into the things we are interested in!
I guess I should clarify. maybe I didn't mean kids- as I know all kids play with toys; but, instead teenagers on up. I guess most kids play with toys, but it's when they get into their teens that they start to lose interest in toy collecting. I still don't understand why I never grew out of it. I guess I'll always be a kid at heart.
Honestly, by the time I was about to start driving a car, my toys went in the attic. It wasn't until I hit my late twenties that I dug them out and looked at them again, not to play, but to admire. That's what brought me here. I think there's a natural hiatus from all things toy for most people. But, I bet they all come around at least for nostalgia at some point. Some of us turn that nostalgia into a new hobby.

Psh! I used the car to drive me to the stores and local CS's to buy more toys. I also never hid the hobby/habit from the women I dated either. And contrary to what some might think, they never had any issues with it either.
