if youre paying to credit cards that are full cause of SS product.
THen youre pretty much sending it to SS still. :lol

I have a long standing tradition of filling up my Sideshow credit card throughout the year and then paying it off with my tax return. This year will be no exception.

I feel like an idiot. I didn't realize this is in addition to the regular refund that I get :D:D:D

But I'm sure this will be paying for something in the 2nd Qtr.

From what I've read they'll be issued via US Postal Service in June. I wouldn't make too many plans for this part of the tax return just yet...

Tax Rebates Deal Announced

That's cool. I hope I get something. I think I made over $3,000 last year (college student) but I'm not sure if I'll get anything or if my parents will get something (in all fairness they should give me the $300).

I owe my father for the computer he bought me, so it'll all be going to squaring that debt. In the end, it all goes to my collection in a way since whatever I can use my refund to pay off frees up regular income for collectibles.

do your civic duty and do not use your extra refund to pay bills....spend it to stimulate the economy! :) mine will go towards the wedding later this year.

The government should be giving the money to people that need the money. IF someone didn't make $3000 I am sure they probably need it more than say someone who made 75k in a year.

Looks like the really poor people and others in need will be left out in the cold as usual.
I read one part of that article that said Republican's were happy about the income stipulation they set....I wonder why? :monkey1

**** that. This type of stunt never works. It didn't work last time and it definitely won't work this time. The economy is in the pisser and it's only getting worse. Of course it's only natural for those in need to pay down their debt or save because your future isn't secure in this economy.

I do more than my fair part to stimulate the economy. I need to get some money back in my savings account.

Or maybe this will help pay for all the liquor for the FREAKS party :google

it actually does help it some but it's like putting a bandaid on a large bleeding wound. the economy is cyclical, i wouldn't get too stressed out. i just ask myself if I didn't watch the news would i even now if the economy was "good" or "bad"....the answer for me is no. we as a country just overspend our means, that's the biggest problem but i guess this subject isn't the point of this thread.

Important question: Is this "rebate" technically for Tax Year 2007, or 2008?

(I ask, because if it's for 2007 mine would be $2100. For 2008, it would be $900. Slight difference. :lol)

it should be based on 2007 information since the checks could go out as early as June/July 2008. but, depending on the state you live in, you could have to file this money on your state tax filing for 2008.

If the measure is approved by the Senate:
People who pay income taxes will get up to $600.
Couples can receive up to $1,200.
People with children will get an additional $300 per child.
Workers who make at least $3,000, but don't pay taxes will each receive $300 rebates.
Rebates will only be given to individuals who make $75,000 or less and working couples who earn less than $150,000.

The tax rebate checks could go out as early as June 2008.
