Will Weta do the Hobbit?

The thing that worries me is that when Weta relased their Narnia and Kong collectibles lines, they were a bit . . .expensive. That didn't generate the price point that would have people buying them in droves (not me, certainly). So, I waited by the wings for the price to go down (aka plummet).

I'm hoping Weta doesn't price these Hobbit collectibles out of the average joe's price range. If anything, they could use the pricing that SS has created to make these affordable.

I don't really mind if it's not the exact same team that did LOTR that ends up doing The Hobbit. In the past, whenever they get the exact same group of cast and crew together to do another installment in a series, it doesn't always end up being as good as previous efforts (Spider-Man 3 anyone?) It's good to have some fresh blood in there that can inspire the people who've been around a long time and may have gotten complacent.

Hmm, I actually liked Spiderman 3 better than the others. Apart from when the Sandman goes "Oh, ok then, I won't try to kill you anymore. Bye!"
I think the Hobbit should mirror the same world PJ brought to us, and that means filming in New Zealand, and filming in New Zealand means Weta. PJ's involved, for goodness sake! As if there's any doubt that anyone else is going to do it!
And I don't think Weta are complacent....passionate and under staffed yes! I am happy with a new director though, that side of things could do with a bit of freshening up, as long as it looks like the same world, for example Gandalf, Elrond, Gollum, Saruman and Galadriel (for the bridge movie) have to be the LOTR actors. Hobbiton and Rivendell should look the same. The trolls that get turned into stone should look like the stone trolls and then we could have a Weta statue of the 'live' trolls to display next to our Weta 'Stone' trolls statue!
